Had a dream that it was current times, but society as a whole was beginning to become acclimated to the idea of AI / robots or whatever.
They were slowly being implemented in stores, restaurants, banks, pharmacies, ride-share companies, and the list goes on and on.
Biden was about to begin his first term, but no one had seen him in months. He did eventually appear at his inauguration, though he seemed a little off.
Turns out he had died between winning the election and taking the presidency, but the democrats and his administration did not want the shit storm that would come with that and of course wanted to maintain power. So, they replaced his insides with a programmed cyborg.
It worked for a long while, but when it finally came to light it lead to even more in-fighting, accusations, and suspicion. Both parties felt that their opposing members could be unhuman, and eventually even members of their own party. No one was 100% sure that one or many robots weren't running the country. No one was 100% sure that one of those robots weren't connected to foreign bad actors. No one could be sure that their various institutions - the army, the voting process, schools, banks, etc hadn't been infiltrated.
It was a pretty vivid creepy dream.
Neighbors distrusted each other. Colleagues sabotaged each other. Teammates called one another out for odd behavior.
It ended on almost a pre-apocalyptic feel.
