Today will be a first for me. I will be attending a baseball game alone for the first time, without friends, etc.
My friend Adam is observant, and didn't want to go because he couldn't eat food at the game due to Passover. My friend Barney isn't going.. due to his own arrogance and stupidity.
Originally, my dad had kindly offered to get us tickets through someone he knew. The plans seemed to fall through. Even though my dad wasn't sure if he could get us the originally promised tickets, he told me to buy the tickets at Citi Field for both Barney and myself, and that my dad would generously have paid for the tickets, something I would never have expected him to do.
Even though Barney knew this.. that either my dad would get us primo tickets, or the tickets would be paid for by either me or my dad, and it wouldn't have cost Barney anything.. Barney decided to be a jerk about the whole thing, and insisted he wasn't going to the game with me, unless my dad had "Pre arranged tickets". I blew up, saying what difference did it make as long as Barney had a seat at the game. Therefore.. with my dad not being able to get tickets, Adam's observance of Passover, and Barney's miserable attitude, I decided to just go to the game myself, and get whatever seats I can. It's a beautiful day, and even though I'm a Braves fan, I wont even be that disappointed if the Braves lose today.
Barney is just unreal. He would have had a free ticket.,. either given to him by my dad, or paid for by either me, my dad, or both me and my dad, and Barney still had to be an ass about the whole thing. I'm not going to let him ruin my time of going to see a game on a beautiful day. Fuck him.
The other reason I want to go today, is that the Braves other two visits to NY in 2014, are all night games, and with me unsure of my schedule for work, etc,it's easier to go to a game that ends at 4 to 5 pm, and get home by 6, then it is to go to one that ends at 10-1030, and get home maybe not til close to midnight.
Thank heaven the weather is good. I hope my Braves win, but if not, at least I'll get to see a game on a beautiful day, in spite of my friend being a jerk about the whole thing.
