I can sympathize. I once had a girlfriend that cheated on me and after a while tried to act like that breach of trust never happened. She would wonder why I seemed different around her and I had to tell her, "Why do you think? You betrayed my trust on an extremely deep level. People just don't forget that." Trust is key in any relationship.

I completely understand what you mean. I have had more than one person in life do something really hurtful, and then after some time has passed just expect me to forget.

I can accept an apology if it is meant sincerely. But when my feelings are hurt because of something really big, I have a tough time just letting that go.

Trust is very important in many facets of life. That being said its value is also determined by the individual and therefore is subject to interpretation. So even when you think things are ok doesn't mean they are....

We live in a "what have you done for me lately" culture, so of course most people tend to let the past stay in the past.
