An African American author recently wrote a book as the title of this blog entry. He's getting a lot of heat from the African American community for it.
On the one hand, I think he has some valid points about marriage. Adapt or die being one of his main points.
Marriage as a whole is going down these days and even child birth is slowing, so perhaps it's not just an African American issue.
The divorce rate in the States is pretty high also.
As for the reaction to his book, I find it hypocritical.
Preaching acceptance for diversity in American culture and blasting a black man for expressing views that differ from "their" own are polar opposites.
I should now clarify that the "they" who is refer to are the people who were blasting this guy's book for a bad reason.
It isn't going to be the end of African American race as we know it if people of all races decide to have interracial relationships.
The ideal marriage should be for love and mutual respect. Race and even gender may very well be irrelevant.
Nothing good ever comes from males trying to figure out females or vise versa.
I leave you with this parting thought to end on a high note:
One night in the college cafeteria, a girl I was dining with was writing a paper on the adult entertainment industry. Apparently the objectification of women was not to her liking.
She expressed that girls were not guilty of such shallow carnal wants. So the group asked her about her preference in the opposite gender.
She replied, "Well my standards are simple. The guy I'll end up marrying will be boyfriend material."
I couldn't help thinking to myself that the whole boyfriend material stuff was just BS. I kept my mouth shut and aided her in the research by lending her a copy of the Playboy magazine I purchased the night before.
I never saw that magazine again. *Tear*
