Ok, so its now 11:15pm, Friday, May 1st. Day 1 of NEST 2009. Why the hell, you may ask, am I sitting in my room blogging?? Good question. Thanks for asking. I'm blogging to kind of confess that while I was a wreck for quite a while about coming to my first NEST, with the tons of social anxiety that I had and the normal fears that any newbie, like my, may have, and the fact that Lyz was constantly pissed at me for months because I was never as excited about it as she was, that it has all left me since being here. The moment I got off the shuttle from the airport and I walked over to a group of some familiars (RobAce, Venray, and more) that I recognized to ask where I should go, I was greeted with open arms, smiles, hugs and shouts of "Falcon!!!!" I was so totally blown away by this that I don't really even have words.
Needless to say, I checked in, dumped my stuff in my room and quickly found myself downstairs in the lobby next to the bar (general meeting place, since we were right in the middle of happy hour) and was promptly hugged/violated by Lyz and Mike (Mike did most of the violating, in case you were wondering). I was then shown around and introduced to Artoo, Mammers, KarateGirl and her b/f Sanhael, Dimpletoes, Kered, CrystalLight, Classy, my fellow Pagan brother BagelFather, Team Canada (Josh and little Rob), Sasaxrah, BaldAdonis, Jules, Katie, Chey, Slacker, KrazieDog, Ikaiyoo and so many others I can't even remember. My mind is in such shock and amazement right now that everything is all fuzzy!
And all this time, Lyz was telling me that I'd have a great time and I denied her every time she said it. So, for once, I'm willing to admit that she was right. She was so right! And all this coming from a newbie who has only been here a matter of hours. Just think of what I'll have to say by the end of the this trip. I have a good feeling that this is going to be a very cool weekend.
