Ok first off, let me clarify something...I place no value on my thoughts or opinions. I don't view them as profound, eye-opening epiphanies that people will hang on and follow like gospel. I think it's going to be like having a therapy session with myself that helps me clear out some clutter in my head. And if people read it, whatever. I won't be hurt if anyone doesn't. I'm just getting shit off my mind and this way makes it seem like I'm actually talking to someone.
So as I type, it's just a little over 43 days to my first NEST. And yeah, I'm very much looking forward to it. Dammit, Jay and Jo were right: gatherings are like crack. Once you go to your first, you just can't wait to go to another. I met so many cool people in Albany and I can't wait to see them all again. Albany was what I consider a large group of people, though in reality it was about 30 people. Now I'm not someone who does well in crowds. I become rather introverted and avoid most of them. But here, i couldn't help but get drawn in by them. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and in their own way, fascinating. And there was not one single person there that I did not like and get along with. It will be great to see them all again.
However, due to the wonderful experience of meeting so many cool people at once in New York, NEST will be even better. Not only will I again get to see most, if not all the people I'd met before, I'll be meeting others that I know thru the forum and even some I've never interacted with before. Seriously, I'm starting to think that the days I'll be there won't be enough time to meet and talk with all the people I'll be seeing there. Honestly, I have never looked forward to being around a large group of people like this in my life. I feel the experience will be nothing short of epic.
So to anyone who may actually read this and has never been to a gathering before, let me tell you this: the people you will meet and talk with will be almost an instant bond of friendship. Alright, I grant you that not everyone can get along with everyone else 100% of the time, but believe me, if you can't walk away from a gathering with at least a couple new friends, then you did it wrong. You'd be astounded at how little it is about the tickling and how much it's really about the camaraderie.
Hope to see you all there.
