Not .. personal.. just an observation.
As those who follow major league baseball are aware.
The 2018 Atlanta Braves season ended on Monday evening.
As a result of a loss in Game Four of the NLDS to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
I congratulate my good friend milagros317 on his Dodger team advancing to the NLCS to play the Milwaukee Brewers.
I'm very proud of the Atlanta Braves 2018 season.
The Braves went from 90 losses and non contention in 2017
to.
NL East champions, and a playoff spot in 2018.
As those who know baseball history are aware.
In 1991, when the Braves (And Dodgers) were then part of the NL West Division.
The Braves went from last place in 1990 to first place in 1991, and narrowly beat out the Dodgers in the division race, as the Braves advanced to the Seventh Game of the 1991 World Series, before losing to the Minnesota Twins.
Even though the 2018 Braves did not go as far as the 1991 team did.
This season and , even the brief postseason.
Felt a bit like 1991.
In that the Braves emerged from basically nowhere, ahead of schedule, to become contenders, and play in the postseason.
In 1991, the Braves fans began a tradition called "The Tomahawk Chop" at Braves home games.
Using foam rubber tomahawks, and a war like chant, to rally their team.
This evening's scene at Suntrust Park, the Braves home park in Atlanta , Georgia.
Sounded exactly like 1991, with the same chant, and foam rubber tomahawks, rooting the Braves on.
As people who know baseball history are aware, the 1991 season, began a string of 14 straight division titles for the Braves, in both the NL West, and NL East, that included a World Series Championship in 1995, and five NL Championships, in 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 1999.
While the current Braves team might not sustain the long run of success that the 1990s and early 2000s Braves enjoyed.
It is highly likely that baseball in the foreseeable future in Atlanta, should include an exciting, competitive team.
Congratulations to the Braves on their success in the 2018 season.
Good Luck to them in 2019, and beyond.
It would seem that for the Braves, the excitement is just beginning.
