Having been a member of the TMF for half a year now, I find it striking how many people have explained that tickling as a fixation/fetish has always been there for them - "born this way", in the words of one particular singer.
In my case however, I can pinpoint the exact moment it started for me:
One night, at the age six, I had a sick day. That was notable enough - you could barely count the number of sick days I had throughout my school life on two hands - but little did I know this was going to be a pivotal day in my entire life...
While she was sorting her day out to accommodate a sick kid, my mum plonked me in front of the TV; what happened to be playing was a certain episode of a cartoon called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles...*
The Case of the Hot Kimono, then.
From what I gathered years later, it was also the beginning for a lot of other people out there; all I can say is that for a certain 6-year-old in north-west England, almost delirious with fever and utterly entranced by what was on TV in front of him, it was like a switch had been flicked in his head.
That day, a ler was born...
*P.S.: Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you: "Hero". What can I say, early 90s censorship was daft!
