Before I get into this, I need to preface it by saying that I am not intentionally picking on anyone at all. But see, anytime I see somebody make a post in General Discussion or elsewhere that states, "I'm leaving the TMF", it generally bewilders me. I mean, think about it. Every single one of our 80,000 plus, with a few exceptions here and there, joined this site for a common reason. We have a tickling fetish. That much can be agreed upon, correct?
So you join the TMF. You have a great time posting, getting involved in the random discussions that get started up, and maybe even connect with a few people along the way. So one day you decide that it's time for you to "grow up and move on". I've seen some even state how much they're going to miss the forum and its people but are still intent on leaving anyway. People, this isn't some job that you're leaving in order to begin a more profitable one. It's an internet forum. A daily escape. If you're really going to miss it, why leave? You deprive no one but yourself.
I understand, of course, that there are mitigating circumstances in some cases. Our ladies get the constant barrage of creepy PMs. That can get overwhelming, I'm sure. But then I see reasons like "no one responds to my PMs" or "I don't like this person so I'm outta here". I'll bet top dollar that a very large percentage of those folks that have "left forever" are now either posting or lurking under new screen names. Why? As I stated before, we have a tickling fetish. This isn't something we can just turn off and ignore. The lure of the content alone can be enough to get many to stick around.
Again, there is no intent to single anyone out in his blog, so it is my hope that no one takes this the wrong way. I just find this phenomenon rather interesting. Or perhaps I should say peculiar. I hope that all those who have left in the past find what they are searching for, but something tells me that most may not really have completely disappeared.
