It turns out that the story that has been rumored for so many weeks on WPVI is true.
Tonight, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, is Jim Gardner's finale on WPVI 's 11 pm newscast.
Anchor Rick Williams will be Gardner's successor on the WPVI 11 pm news cast.
Mr Williams has been with WPVI since the late 1980s, so Mr Williams is apparently a very qualified successor to Gardner on the 11 pm show
As has also been reported for weeks, Gardner will continue anchoring the 6 pm newscast until the end of 2022, at which time he will retire from WPVI completely.
Based on the comments on WPVI's Facebook page, while all who have posted, including myself, wish Gardner the best with leaving the 11 pm newscast, and in his semi retirement.
11 pm will never be the same
I will of course be watching Gardner's final 11 pm newscast online tonight.
After that, I will just watch him at 6 when he will be on, until his actual retirement.
