Many, many people ask me about my lifestyle; that fact that I have two life-partners is hard for them to compute, which I can certainly understand as it's simply not what they're used to or raised to embrace as a choice. I thought I'd share this past weekend since it was a very typical example of what it is we do...
I took Friday off, a VERY rare thing for me but I needed a mental health day. Kicked everyone out to work and school, and blasted Stevie Wonder and They Might Be Giants while I did laundry and scrubbed various surfaces in need of scrubbing (moms don't really take days off...) Adam, my OSO (Other Significant Other) lives two hours away, but he needed to be down here this weekend to coach his volleyball team and see me when he could. About Noon he arrived, after not being here since the first weekend in March. Yeah. After, um...getting re-aquainted, we had *epical* late breakfast at the local diner and talked about possibilities for my new radio show. He had to get back to his team so he dropped me off, and after yet more reaquaintance he took off. I spent the rest of the day with my daughters once they were home from school; we walked the Shamwow all over the neighborhood and made muffins and had Mama/kid time. My hubby came home and made dinner (he's taken that over since we've been lowcarbing, something about cooking red meat makes him all testosterony) and told me about his day. We ended up cozy on the sofa watching Comedy Central and talking about what we want to do on vacation in Vermont in July, and making out; Yes we still do after 17 yrs. And it's still yummy once you machete your way through the beard...
He passed out on the sofa while I read my new book on jewelry making and got ready to do the radio show on Poly I'd been asked to help host. Adam came back to see me while I was on the radio, and rubbed my back and listened when he wasn't glued to my Steelers History DVD...he left again just after midnight and I fell into bed, exhausted after my 'day off'.
Saturday he coached all day; my hubby and I decided to spend the morning doing chores and hanging out with our daughters, and the entire afternoon snuggled under the covers watching the League of Gentlemen, an *insane* british comedy that I highly recommend, while our girls played Sorry! and took turns on the computer and read their new books from the Book Fair. Late that night while I was online and my husband caught up on some show about Niagra Falls Adam came back, and we went over to Jhoti's house to harrass her and her 17 yr old and watch the second Harold and Kumar movie. He dropped me off at home and promised to come by before heading home on Sunday. I came in and wrapped myself around a warm sleeping hubby and passed out happy 🙂
Yesterday I slept in, crawled out of bed around 9am and had coffee with the hubby while he and the girls played Monopoly. I lied to myself about doing more laundry and instead had a looonnnggg hot shower and watched an Eddie Izzard DVD while at least sorting clean stuff. Adam came back at noon and took me out to lunch at 'our' place, Steak N Shake, and I listened to why 13 yr old girls often suck at volleyball... we came back here and my husband was sweet enough to take our girls to McDonalds to eat and play so Adam and I could enjoy having the house to ourselves.

He took off a few hours later, having a long drive home. We talked on the phone for some of his drive before we said goodbye, and I took the girls to Blockbuster and the grocery store, giving my hubby the house to himself for awhile for which he was equally grateful. Last night we watched Jim Gaffigan's new special and discussed why it was lame sadly, before turning in to snuggle and get ready for another week. I honestly remember falling asleep last night thinking how nice the weekend was, how calm and restful and normal.
