The last couple of days have been fairly busy. I have been trying to spend time with friends while studying for finals and doing grades at the same time.
Thursday night my roommate's car literally blew up. I got a phone call at midnight asking me to come get him off the side of the road. When I got there the engine was still smoking and it looked like he had blown some gaskets that were on the side of the highway. So he is now without a car. Luckily, he doesn't live that far from work so he can just bike it and I have been letting him use my car some. He is heading to some car lots today to go look for a “new” used car today.
Yesterday I went to the movies with some friends to go see Wolverine. If you like action then this is a good movie but if you wanted a plot then you will be disappointed. I was not impressed. After the movie we got in a discussion about buffer seats. If you are a woman then you probably don’t think about buffer seats at a theater. In case you don’t know what a buffer seat is, a buffer seat is that seat that men put between themselves when they go to the movies. For me, I sometimes like to have a buffer seat because I enjoy my personal space. I also like having my own cup holder and my own armrest. I usually don’t think about it though because I like to sit on the end. Part of the reason I don’t really think about is that I grew up with two older brothers and wrestled in high school so sitting next to another guy isn’t really an issue for me. You tend to lose your homophobia when you are in a skintight singlet grappling with another guy in a singlet. For me it is more the fact that I like my space and being able to stretch out.
I also played some poker last night. I love playing cards just for the conversation and competition, but when I play poker there has to be some kind of stakes involved. I feel like if you aren’t playing for at least some kind of stake people start to bet with anything. If you are putting in a small amount of money (like $10) then people start to play a little better. I also like poker nights because it is one of the few times I drink. I like to drink beer when I play poker. I’m not really a heavy drinker at all though. I don’t have more than two beers in a night and usually don’t drink that often. It is usually once a week or even longer.
