These thoughts, Des, seem VERY focused, hardly jumbled. You DO seem at peace with the choices you made, in large part, I suspect, because you did what many of us find hard to do: decide what has real meaning for you and work like the Devil to realize it. Many of us might do one, but not both, and therein lies our folly--unlike your admirable success. <p> As for the old boyfriend, quel un cochon! (Can you tell that French wasn't even MY minor? 😉 )
