Soda's 10-Year Anniversary Thread

So ...

I don't frequent the forum nearly as much I used to anymore ; but I do come back to visit/lurk from time to time. A few weeks back or so , I was looking at a thread that I posted in & noticed in the top right corner of my post : Join Date: Jul 2004.

Whoa. Had it really been ten years ago that I joined this forum & in so doing ... changed my life?! Ten years? Where did the time go?!

Upon further investigating my profile , I learned that the actual date I signed up was on July 6th. So me being me , I thought to myself , "Hmmm ... what would be a cool way to kinda commemorate this occasion that has ended up meaning so much to me personally?"

Then I realized that I had a bunch of old artwork that I've never shared w/you guys. Some of it was all done. Penciled. Inked. Complete. Filed away.

Other stuff was penciled ... but not yet inked ... & filed away nevertheless.

So what I've chosen to do to celebrate my ten years of being an official member here , is to finally finish up & ink those pieces that still needed inking , & every few days post a piece of never-before-seen art for all of you to hopefully enjoy. The plan is to share ten pics ; one for every year. This community still means a great deal to me & has given me so much ; & this is just a small way for me to give back a little & say 'thanks'.

You'll notice that these pictures include my old screenname , TKLMAN ; & that I chose to keep on each one the original date/year that these pieces were drawn , as well.


So anyhoo , let's have at it ; shall we? This first one goes back to 2003! ... before I officially signed up & was still just a 'guest' on the forum! It depicts my interpretation of what must transpire up at the North Pole as Santa's out & about doing Santa-type things. As Mrs. Claus knows all too well : thems elves can't help themselves.

As you can see , this moment happens during the time when Ms. Walters was a member of the Fantastic Four ( it's called 'the '80s' , for all you younguns ). Whether he's interrogating her for information or simply being his diabolical ol' self , it's clear Vic enjoys the sight of a giant green babe being taken down a ticklish peg or two just like the rest of us.

Well done, my friend! I'm not at all let down by your vague clue you gave me about this one. I always had Lady Jaye pegged as the ticklish G.I. chick, since Scarlett had the whole ninja training thing going on and we never really saw enough of Cover Girl to get much of a read on her.

Man, I always knew I liked Cobra Commander for a reason....he's got some cool toys!

Still have the Calisto drawing (printed copy) you did 10 years ago where I chickened out and couldn't get the actress to sign it at a convention. One of my favorite drawings of yours! Actually , my friend , you might have me confused w/another artist. At least in regards to the Callisto piece you described. I believe you're probably thinking of the legendary & supertalented FTKL. I'm a huge fan of his , as well ; & I don't mind sayin' that his work always influenced & inspired me.

Okay , today's update includes two ... count 'em ; TWO ... images of everyone's favorite Starfleet communications officer. The first pic is intended as more or less a set up piece , while the second one showcases the big payoff.

You'll notice , too , that Kirk & Spock are present to provide commentary. It's the least they can do as they're otherwise of little help to poor Lt. Uhura ; who , while on an operation visiting a strange planet , has attracted the attention of a , shall we say , 'friendly' local. No wonder she rarely ever left the ship to go on missions.
