OK, the final death of the year is.....2016.

As Father Mulcahy would say, in the original Hebrew no less, "אמן."

Growing up in the '70s I was a fanatic for the M*A*S*H TV show long before I ever knew it was based on the movie, and meek, intellectual Mulcahy was a character that I could really relate to. Then after I read somewhere that one of Christopher's "hobbies" was studying classical Greek, and I think Latin too, well, he became a fave. Mike Farrell, who played Captain Hunnicutt, supplies this reflection in his book Just Call Me Mike: A Journey to Actor and Activist:

The image of Bill [Christopher] sitting on the set totally caught up in reading The Illiad in the original, ancient Greek and pausing to laugh in delight at some impossibly obscure Homerian joke never fails to bring a smile.
