I have to go on a diet cause my doctor said i am overweight for my age and height. Anyone have any healthy alternatives to kicking the habbit of diet soda. My doctor wants me to cut sugar out of my diet also.

p.s. I obvious know about water but damn sometimes i crave something sweet. It really sucks.

Chew gum. And your doc wants you to cut sugar outta your diet because sugar turns to fat.

Get your sugar from carbs. Good ones like brown rice or wheat bread. Get both good carbs and good sugar from fruit.

No need to go on some stupid salad diet. You might gain more weight! Just eat well and exercise. :)

Oh, and like LeeAlure said, lots and lots of water. A lot of the time, when you're hungry, your body's actually craving water.

lee is right.

I've been quenching my thirst with only water for the past 6 years, i've been a size 33 waist for the past 7 years, and my bmi is 23.

After a couple weeks of just water, you develop a real taste for it

doesn't that look just beautiful

brb i need water

yeh my friend is talking to me about flavored seltzer water.

It was hard to get on water, but now it's what I try to drink between meals. I try to go for juices or iced tea in restaurants.

u do know that brown rice is a complex carb and dextrose * or sugar * is a simple carb

and the only time he should be eating any kind of sugar is post workout * assuming hes gonna workout * other than that ur body will convert it into BF

The raspberry lemonade that crystal light makes is fantastic! It tastes so good! Any crystal light is very little calories to add to water. That is your best bet.

Get yourself an iced tea maker. I cannot live without mine. Having a husband that spent 7 yrs as a Quality Control supervisor in a beverage plant, we know what's in soda and we leave it the hell alone :xlime: (other than a bit of Diet Rite here and there, sugar and sodium free and flavored with just a bit of Splenda). Experiment with good herbal teas like raspberry and tangerine and such, and make iced tea with Splenda or whatever sugar-substitute you prefer, using less and less over time. :)

I totally agree on the iced tea, and used to have one of those iced tea makers.
I can still make it the old fashioned way, but those are awesome ;)

Yes. Sorry...wrong advice for different goals.:facepalm:

My bad. But water still rocks!! :woot:

And yes...post workout. :)

Just drink one regular soda a day (or every two days).

Water is good too but filter it first. I drink zerowater. The filters are expensive but last a long time if the town water isn't too bad

Wuz zerowater?

Is that like a Brita filter?

Like others have mentioned, I'm a huge fan of seltzer and if I want a sweet taste Crystal Light and other companies make some great flavors. I love the raspberry lemonade, and the peach iced tea. :woot:

you can get natural flavor extracts like raspberry or strawberry in good bakery stores or natural food stores, and use it to flavor your H2O. of add it to ice tea if you like it.

A good natural program to try for eating is the "fit for life program".. no special foods to buy.. you change the way you eat.. and you can eat what you want as long as you dont combine your foods..

1. From time you wake up till noon only eat fresh fruit
2. Dont mix carbs and meats. no steak and potatoes
3. eat veggy with carbs or veggys with meats..
4. waite 4 hrs between eatting meats and carbs.

go buy the book, cost around 6.00 dollars, it can be found at any bookstore and explaines so much more. it works and you can consume larg amt for 70% of what you eat is either fresh fruits and veggys.

Good luck giving up the pop, I went from drinking about 4 cans a day about 4 years ago to maybe one or two a month now. Personally I would suggest just going with straight water, I can't stand the taste of artificial sweeteners so I won't drink crystal light or any of those additives.

If you're looking to lose weight , in addition to a balanced diet and regular exercise, I would also advice you to watch your sodium intake. Its not something that alot of people think about but people with a high sodium intake will retain a great deal of water weight, sometimes to the point of being unhealthy.

Is that different from Body for Life?

I'm a total camel. I drink water all the time and I love it but I didn't when I was younger. Now, I hate soda. Go figure.

Propel and a few other companies make vitamin enhanced waters and powders that you can mix yourself (some flavors are too sweet for my taste.)
XOXO

I used to drink this beverage called Propel Fitness Water. I drank a ton of it, but it didn't seem to make me any more fit, so I gave it up. :blaugh:
