Congrats on making it into the ICC Champions Trophy cricket tournament. Sports that other countries play can be fun! :p So far you guys have played New Zealand and Australia.

That's good, because normally you couldn't detect your own arse in the dark. :D

very amusing indeed BJ..........

....that kind of talent should be on the telly.....i could turn you off then.

I think it's rather telling, the amount of crowing and celebration one hears whenever a European team actually manages to defeat an American team in some sort of athletic competition. Whereas when the US beats a European team, our reaction is something on the order of: "Oh, did we beat them again? That's nice... (yawn)"

Biggles, your sig pics probably keep disappearing because the site you're getting them off of has disabled the direct-linking of images in order to conserve bandwidth. Try saving it, uploading it to your own web space, and linking it from there. Welcome back, by the way. :)

As a comedian once said to me when I barracked him...

"You're good mate, you should get an agent. A travel agent, and fuck off!"

I'm personally glad of the Rhyder Cup because I still find it hard to credit the appauling and guttersnipe-like behaviour of the US team's entourage a few years back, when they held a full-scale line-dancing competition on the green right before Jose-Maria Olazabel was due to putt. Quite frankly such blatant disregard for the ettiquette of the game deserved a penalty of either disqualification or points deducted.

Another reason it's sometimes satisfying to see the USA lose is because the casualness you mention ASU is very rarely apparent when the US players of said game are talking on the rest of the world's media or to the opposition. Just as good old British arrogance in the 19th century made others gloat when someone scored a point against us, so it's lovely to see the current World Arrogance Champions eat a slice of humble pie now and again. As well know, it doesn't happen very often.

Sadly enough, compared to the sorts of hot-dogging and attention-grabbing antics seen in your average NBA or NFL game nowadays, that sounds rather tame by comparison... :p

Sorry mate, but we were always gonna kick ass at this. Cricket and Rugby are the only things that America plays other countries at (except the baseball world series I think) and we're world champs at cricket, and second at rugby. Golf, who gives a shit.

By the way, does anyone know where they can get the re-jigged olympic medal tally to go by GDP or population?

Nice to be back.
