Surprised this didn't get any replies. I wasn't gonna bother myself, for the simple reason that I only bought one album released in 2017! (which is kinda pathetic, but never mind lol). But as I liked it, I thought I may as well give it a mention.

Hippopotamus by Sparks. Pretty weird album, really - surprising, inventive. The title track is probably my favourite; love the nonsense verse-style lyrics! Giddy Giddy is another favourite. Puts a smile on my face!

Amy Lee and Evanescence put together a project album called Synthesis. There's some new music in there, but it seems the whole point of the album is a bite of the thumb to their first record label that stepped all over Amy's plans for such songs as Bring Me to Life and My Immortal, and she performs those songs as she originally intended (and they are far better than the radio edits we've all heard, IMHO).
