Typically covers don't seem as good as the original as you always have that preconceived ideal of how the song should sound, which the cover never usually does. If it does sound exactly the same it would be pointless anyway!
One I loved though was the Big Mountain cover of the Peter Frampton classic "Baby I Love Your Way" here

Actually, just thought of a 4th; Phil Collins' version of Groovy Kind of Love was better than the Mindbenders' version (I think so, anyway).
