Check this out. A 15-year old beauty queen is stripped of her crown... for dying her hair from blonde to brunette. And just look at the response from the idiotic organizer. Ya know, last I checked, 15-year old kids are allowed to express themselves. And what's really stupid is that this all happened after the fact.

Every Thanksgiving, when the Detroit Lions stink up the field (again), my family will tune into a dog show, so I end up watching that. So yearly, I get to watch the way they are groomed, examined, and commented on regarding temper and gait, and to some end, talent. Except for a Q&A, the very few pagents I've seen on TV feel uncomfortably similar.

Why do we need pagents anymore? If you want to objectify women, there are dozens of places where that can be done quickly and easily without spending 3 hours pretending that you're doing the opposite.

As a parent, if someone would've told my 15 year old daughter that she wouldn't go far in life because she changed her hair color, I would've been knee deep in their arses!

Adults have no idea of the impact of their words on children; the prisons are full of people that adults spoke negativity into them.

I heard so much of that crap growing up that for many years I bought into it. Now I do me and don't care what anyone else thinks. But I lost decades living with other people's words stuck in my head. People should think before they spew...........

Some people seem to have such self-esteem issues that the only way they feel good about themselves is to tear somebody else down. Not only that, but some people also feel like they should 'pass along' abusive behavior because they had to endure it when they were younger. This all really hits home when it's an adult berating a child for something as superficial as this.

I'm not saying that kids should be coddled or protected from the world. But what this woman said to this child is obscene.

I'm also glad some people liked the dog show analogy. I keep hearing that kids today are too focused on what makes them special and deserving as they are and not enough on working hard to merit accomplishment. To which I say I agree, so let's stop judging children and young adults on superficial, inherited (or surgery-enhanced) traits and focus on their achievements.
