To me, this isn't an either/or as you've posed it.

At least to me, there's a kind of intense session where the 'lee is kind of broken, i.e. having lost the ability to filter or think about their reactions -- but yet without being "sadistic," which I would equate with the 'ler trying to get the subject to feel pain, fear or terrorized.

Perhaps I'm making too much of the semantics (which I'm prone to do). But for me when they're screaming during the tickling, but then still smiling during the pauses, that's neither "playful" nor "sadistic."

I would say I enjoy both light and sadistic tickling. A combination of both in waves makes the tickling more intense and makes for a longer session. Ultimately, I’d want my play partner to enjoy it and feed off their reactions so I feel communication is important.

What I prefer -- and what constitutes a big chunk of my personal experience -- is the lighthearted inflicting of sadistic tickling. Which is to say: most people regard tickle-torture as an antirely separate category from actual torture, and they dish it out accordingly. It's a chance to make someone beg for mercy without actually hurting them or transgressing social acceptability. There's usually an entirely different mindset: someone who's tickling someone else, even relentlessly, has different and more playful intentions from someone who's trying to physically hurt someone else. I'm not generally attracted to people motivated by hatred or cruelty. But someone driven by the playfully competitive impulse to tease someone by ruthlessly exploiting their ticklishness is delicious. What appeals to me is the fun and playful kind of sadism that finds its best -- arguably its only -- expression in the weird phenomenon that is tickling.

I love the way you put this. I want my lees to feel like feel like they're being tortured. But not really. I don't want them to be angry or traumatized, but still like they can't take it for another second. The tickler's paradox.

I'm definitely a sadistic tickling fan. I'm a lee and into the intense feeling of sadistic tickling. That said, I do really enjoy light-hearted tickling too. It's a wonderful stress relief, cute, and fun. But my fetish is really for torturous tickling.

I also don't agree that lighthearted = light tickles. Depending on the lee, lighter tickles are what drives them crazy.

I'm 100% sadistic tickler. If I'm going to go through the trouble of tying someone up and tickling them, especially if I have to PAY them, then I'm going to make it worth my while. And yes, as I tie them up, they KNOW they're in for the tickling of their life, so they can't complain I didn't warn them.

I can tickle torture someone for hours and not get tired or bored. I play a lot of tickly torturous games with them and they have to play along. It's not like they can just get up and leave.
