I wasn't quite sure where to put this , I felt this question could be more of a personal feeling/opinion than a political debate . which I hope it can stay . This question I'm hoping will get females as well as males to express how they feel a woman's choises will change things in regards to taking care of us , the men and women of America ........... In my personal opinion I feel a woman would take a strong hold of the business at hand and be able to use rationality as a tool of wise judgements ............... PS , just a short feeling is all I ask of you , so as not become a debate , for the GD is where I felt this thread would get the most female audience ............. To add one thing , as leader I mean PRESIDENT ..............

I dunno if you mean just as becoming President? A few years ago I took a history class and my teacher asked us what did we think would happen first: An African american male would become president orrrrrrrr a WOMAN would becomre president. Everyone had to say what they think we'd see first and it was close but I believe the african american male won the voting. I voted for that as well. I don't know why...I just don't see a woman becoming president. I think an African American male would have a better chance.

I would have no problem voting for either one myself,it would only be on the basis of who i felt could do the best job for the country.

All that you said is possible, and they will be also much more beautiful and sexy!!!, have you seen the French Socialist that will run for prime minister or president in France??. She look so hot at 53 years old and not being a model. Will love to go to bed with her. :justlips: :happyfloa :p

Yes I think a woman could be just as a good a President as a man.

Here in the United States, we are unsurprisingly a bit behind the curve by never having elected a woman as head of state. Many of the world's major democratic states have elected woman leaders, including such current leaders as Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany, President Tarja Halonen in Finland, President Mary McAleese in Ireland, and Prime Minister Helen Clark in New Zealand, and such former leaders as President Ruth Dreifuss in Switzerland, Prime Minister Jenny Shipley in New Zealand, Prime Minister A. Kim Campbell in Canada, Prime Minister Edith Cresson in France, Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland in Norway, President Vigdis Finnbogadottir in Iceland, Prime Minister Gold Meir in Israel, Prime Minister Indira Ghandi in India, and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the United Kingdom.

As a woman, I have to say I'd never vote for a female. I'm sorry, but I know how devious, conviving, and manipulative we are. More so then men. It's built into our genes.

Plus all the women who have gotten into leadership roles in my local government have been major scum-bags. ALL of them. Not a single one was a worth while human being. But they got away with it because they were women and would cry discrimination whenever someone protested.

I would vote for a woman if I agreed with her political agenda. Sorry to say I don't agree with either Hillary or Condi so if they decide to run then my vote would go elsewhere.

What makes a good leader doesn't have anything to do with one's genitalia. The best boss I've ever had is my current one, a woman, and the only reason I've stayed where I work now as long as I have. Yes, I would vote for a lady president if we wanted the same things, hands down.
XOXO

Yeah, you have to worry about a woman being strong and rational and have good judgement, because clearly those are gender-dependent traits and men are inherently strong, rational, and characters of good judgement.

It would have to be a rare type of woman if id vote for her to be president. youd need a woman whos a bit cold and not caught up so much in emotions.

Funny you should say that. It's actually been proven in psychology that men are more emotional that women, but women tend to express those emotions more.

Eeeeh, why not? I've voted for women before, and can think of quite a few who would make a far better leader than the one my own country's stuck with at the moment. Sure, you can hardly pretend sex doesn't matter at all - after all, gender is not quite synonymous with genitals and is going to have played a pretty big part in shaping the character of the person you're considering voting for - but it's hardly some huge deal that by itself could influence my decision (um, or it shouldn't anyway). I can't believe how some people even feel the need to start reeling off lists of supposedly gender-dependent traits that suit good leaders and then base their opinion on that - most of the generalisations we make about the sort of characteristics inherent to different genders are either ridiculously insignificant or unfounded, but even if they weren't, it would hardly be an issue anyway - what matters is the particular individual and his or her policies, not a set of extremely abstract and intangible personality traits that may or may not be slightly more common in their gender than the other's. Politicians are concrete individuals just like you and me and are not exhaustively defined by their sex, race, hair colour, tickle fetish or anything else.

Possibly, but i think women tend to make their decisions more on emotion than thought.

If a worthy woman ran and had good concepts, she could get my vote. But anyone who votes for a woman because she is a woman is a fool

"Strong , Rationality, Wise Judgements" ? I feel these three words describe ones character . "Strong" as no pussyfooting around but taking the horse by the reigns , as in taking control , no slacking , get in their the first day and start making a difference ........... "Rationality" , as in not going in with guns blazing ,to go where angels fear to tread , as in not to be pig headed or that I'm better than you and have more power ......... "Wise Judgments" As in doing all the above the oppisite way .making the difference with honorable decisions ....... Gender seems all through time to have made a kind of difference with things one way or another , this is a fact . Men and women are individuals , each going by their own hearts , so with that in mind the gender stereotype lands on shakey ground . But I think it safe to say that somethings about men and women are different , if just for the sake of difference it's self .............. One more thing I wish to be seen , in all this countries history the only presidents we have ever had have been (male & white) is there any significance in this ?

The significance is that we are still a fairly young country. Just 40 years ago, the fact that John F. Kennedy was a Catholic seemed to offend a lot of people. And year after year as presidents were voted into office, it set a precedence that they were male and white. Women weren't allowed to vote until a little less than 100 years ago, which was AFTER minorities got the right to vote, mind you, so white males were active in government for more than a century before anyone else was.

Despite all that, it's clear that things are changing, which is probably a good thing.

Lol!

Flirt! I'm probably a bit too outspoken for the job, but just the same honey...

Steph , you need only read between the lines for that answer .

...........I don't really think we are likely to see a female USA president before we see a female leader in Europe somewhere....The Europeans are much more forward thinkers....innovative politically, artistically.....I think a female leader in a foreign country will pave the way for an American president....but not Imelda Marcos!..... :bat:

A woman Senator , a woman Secretary of State , seems like a good time for a woman to step up to the plate for President ........
