I was one of those lucky kids that had a rich neighbor who gave out full-sized Snickers and Milky Ways. They were around at the same time I was for two Halloweens, and it was like getting gold in my pillowcase. The second Halloween they were around was cold and rainy and the population of trick-or-treaters was seriously reduced. They gave me three since so few kids were around. Best haul ever.

After they moved out, an older couple moved in. They were nice, but the sort who bought a bunch of butterscotch suckers and left them out on the porch. It just wasn't the same.

I love Halloween candy too, as well as other holidays, but did we really need it on the store shelves in July? Seriously, people? You're stocking up 3 months in advance?

Oh, and 3 Musketeers, and those Vanilla tootsie rolls.

Man, way back when, I used to come home with a haul. Nothing, though, brings back the memories like Brach's candy corn, which is very similar to what Zoddie posted.

I can't have them anymore. The spike's a killer.

I love lots of different things...most of which I'm not supposed to be eating any more. So, when I cheat (just a little) this Halloween, it will be Munson's Dark Chocolate Mint meltaways for me! Let the little kiddies have all the cheap stuff! lol

I agree, there's nothing like it -- I love the mixed bag of corn & pumpkins & such too but yeah, now --- OMG too much sugar

Not sure I want it out all year since it might take away from the seasonal fun
(and who would have teeth, really.... )
but yeah, I also loved getting candy bars from neighbors

Of course if anything was from someone we didn't know it would have to pass extreme inspection and if there was any doubt, even if just unsealed, it was gone,
but it was still a lot of fun. Never did figure out how anyone could get a razor blade in half this stuff without there being SOME telltale sign....

At least if we got dimes or pencils there would be no doubt ---- But if it was going to be non-candy, I preferred spider rings
