Is sex "dirty".....?

I always wondered why sex was considered "dirty"? I mean, without it, none of us would even be here, yet most Christians and other major religions considered it the worst thing imaginable.

But, if you have sex after marriage, it's somehow cleaner than if you have it before. As if one ceremony where everyone gets drunk after alters the exact same act the couple probably was already doing before! I have respect for the institute of marriage, but it seemed odd that the exact same act that was before dirty, is now, not so dirty (they still consider it dirty, though...)

There is nothing "dirty" about sex. I think that as long as two people love each other, whether or not they're married, sex is a beautiful thing. In fact, I'd say they were making love instead of having sex. Just be sure to take the proper steps if you don't want children before you get hitched!

if you look at the way sex was viewed in "biblical" and/or prehistoric times, you'll notice that since the survival rate of infants was very low, men often had many wives because they needed to pump out the kids at an astounding rate to make sure one of 'em survived. As life got better and people stopped droppin' like flies, there eventually became too many of them for the food supplies and other resources to support. So sex, like other activities that could have a detrimental effect on society as a whole, was turned into something that you shouldn't indulge in on an hourly basis.

However, since people are selfish bastards, it had to take the form of a higher power like religion or else nobody would listen. Consider the following two missives from your village eldger:

"Stop having sex, the city can't support all your kids."

yea, okay.

"Stop having sex, or the infinitely-powerful being who watches over us will punish you for all eternity."

pass the condom!

on the other hand, note that abstaining from rampant sex not only cuts down on the rugrat population but diseases and birth complications as well. good for a pre-modernized society on all counts.

It depends on how you look at it.

I personally believe that sex is dirty if it is not a love gesture. One night stands and flings to me are dirty. I personally am waiting until I get married to have sex. This decision for me happens to be a spiritual one, but I don't hold it against anyone who doesn't agree with my views on this.

I personally have a hard time getting in a relationship with a girl who has had sex with more than one person. It's a personal thing based on the life that I personally have choosen to live! And I may not make it until marriage, but I will try with everything I have. I have doen well so far. I have slept in the same bed with girls for years in my longer relationships, and have still never had sex.
