It was a notorious scam for a long time. Order, get married, she becomes a citizens and leaves your ass with Alimony.

The concept of mail order brides blew me away. I can't imagine why someone would want to do that any more than someone would want an arranged marriage. I come from an area where some families still try to go for that, though not nearly as forceful, and almost ended up in one myself. The thought was mortifying. She was an attractive young girl and her family was well off as well as long time friends of my family, but the idea of trying to build a relationship based on a completely non-mutual set of feelings was not appealing to say the least. Needless to say I ran for the hills without ever even giving it a chance. I'd like to think we are both better off for it, as we have both found people we care deeply about and (I at least) feel no regrets towards the decision.

1) Men who get mail order brides and then are ripped off, get what they deserve IMO. They are looking for a slave to begin with, that's why they order up some chick from what they see as a backwards 2nd or third world country. So once she get's there, get's the pappers and fucks off so she can sponcer her boyfriend back home, good for her. I have no sympathies.

2) Just because a woman come's from a wealthy family doesn't mean you won't have to pay alimone to her. I knew a guy who was married to a rich woman who's family had money. She left him and went back how, and he still had to foot the bill for her, even though she was living in this huge house. So you probably did the right thing there. Personally I don't know why any guy would get married, family law is simply made to fuck us over.

Alright. It doesn't bother me what the thread maker wants for his personal satisfaction. I am also done with the tribal opinion about the innocence of marginalized women.

I'll shoot straight. What concerns me is why those women would allow or choose the option to be sold, unless it is the ultimate goal or a choice that will make them happy. Otherwise, they are exploited or circumstances blackmailed them to decide for their fate and take it as lesser evil.

These things exist, that is why he wants to avail it. It's quite a symptom of a macro problem. But if you folks see a path, it is like the animal welfare thing. When one channel gets cut, then the service will extinct.

Well its about gentlemen of the industrialized citizenry. The only thing they(this guy who started the thread) to know is themselves, and see another person(of the opposite or same sex), as an 'object' of attraction, and not a 'person' of attraction. I like to think of a girl I'm attracted too as a person, and not the other away around.

I think your idea of arranged marriages are a little different than those from some places. An arranged marriage is generally where parents pressure their children greatly to get together with someone of their choosing and marry them. Whether it is because the families are close and it is something that would really make the parents happy or because they chose this particular individual due to their personality/particular qualities... or both. But the situation generally involves both the guy and girl getting pressured to a pretty solid extent.

What you described comes across like she was presented in chains with a bow on her head. Not even close. For one thing I'm relatively sure that would have been very illegal. We got along well enough, and probably would have had quite a charming life. I guess. But the truth is, it just seems like that way of doing something wouldn't have exactly been fair to either of us, as we wouldn't have had the opportunity to find someone of our own choosing that we would care about. While we did get along, we had almost no mutual interests.

It wasn't from her that I was "running for the hills", and I didn't mean to imply this. It was the situation in general. Perhaps it was my own selfish thinking that lead to my conclusion that she, too, would have been unhappy if we had followed our parents wishes. Still... I don't at all regret that decision.

The minute you slide that ring on her finger here in the US she immediately gains rights and can sue you for spousal abuse if you treat her the way you intend. The only way to prevent that is to move to a country where women have no rights. Such countries are generally hell-holes, so in the end it's not really worth it.
