She had been fighting a battle with Leukemia, she was 72.

Having known the trio for over 25 years, I shall miss her irrevelent sense of humor, her dedication to Human Rights and her incredible talent for singing. I am deeply saddened by this news, but will always remember a multi-talented singer, a friend, a north star which guided me and a conscience which helped the world over.

While she has passed away, her music and the memories we have of her will never die, as they will always occupy a very special place in all our hearts.

I'll miss you Mary, and I love you.

RIP Mary. :dropatear

I grew up singing Puff the magic dragon. When I got older I sang it to my nieces and nephews. They had so many great protest ballads and what harmony. May she rest in peace. Thanks for the Music Mary!

This was their first big hit, released in 1962. Written by Pete Seegar and Lee Hays.

I was lucky enough to see them live when I was in college. I loved the way their voices blended. Their music was relevant and vibrant and fun. I always wished I could play guitar/sing like that. Folk music endures. She'll be in the hearts of generations for years to come :)

For some reason this year so many people have passed and without this post alot of us would never have known of her loss. I was not a big fan of Peter Paul and Mary but I do understand how important they were in making folk music popular and acceptable among the masses. They were never very radical and they always sang well. She is an important staple in the folk music world and will be greatly missed.
