Although he and his wife were not members of any congregation, a man named Joseph went to see one of the local ministers.
"Reverend," he said, "I'm not one of your flock, but I need help desperately. I think that my wife is trying to poison me. I can't go to the police because my father-in-law is the Chief of Police. Could you please just talk to her for me?"
The minister agreed to talk to Joseph's wife and did so that evening.
The next day, the minister telephoned him. "I spoke with your wife for two hours last night. Here is my advice: Joe, drink the poison."
