Singing great Ben E King passed away today at age 76.

His song Stand By Me is a wonderful song.

He was great. My faovrite of his songs (although it wasn't his biggest hit) was Save the Last Dance For Me. Rest In Peace, Mr. King.

While even the greatest of us cannot compete with the ravages and ceaseless onslaught of time, I feel there there are a few who manage to defy this principle and thus attain a small measure of what can only be described as immortality among our race. Whether for legendary achievements in science, magnificent works of art that move and inspire, or monumental acts of heroism and/or kindness, these handful of men, women, and children are among our race's greatest heroes / heroines. It is their achievements that form the foundation that our race builds upon. Ben E King (like all famous musicians who brought joy to our ears) may be dead yet he will never be truly gone from our hearts.
