Songs everyone loves that you hate...

Man some of you guys are tough!

I knew Baby Got Back would make this list, but I love that song!

And I think I'm the only person left on earth who likes Creed!

But anything by Bruce Springsteen and I'm ready to put a bullet in his skull!
-That "I kissed a girl" song makes me nauseaus!
-U2 after about 1990 is useless to me
-But my all-time personal song to loathe that every African American loves is Always and Forever by Heat Wave! That song sounds like it was recorded in a funeral home! Ugh!

A few years ago "This American Life" did a show about what people liked most in songs, and what people most disliked. Thing like lyrics about cowboys, children's choirs, the tuba, opera, rap and holiday stuff. Here's an overview:

"The most unwanted music is over 25 minutes long, veers wildly between loud and quiet sections, between fast and slow tempos, and features timbres of extremely high and low pitch, with each dichotomy presented in abrupt transition. The most unwanted orchestra was determined to be large, and features the accordion and bagpipe (which tie at 13% as the most unwanted instrument), banjo, flute, tuba, harp, organ, synthesizer (the only instrument that appears in both the most wanted and most unwanted ensembles). An operatic soprano raps and sings atonal music, advertising jingles, political slogans, and “elevator” music, and a children’s choir sings jingles and holiday songs. The most unwanted subjects for lyrics are cowboys and holidays, and the most unwanted listening circumstances are involuntary exposure to commercials and elevator music. Therefore, it can be shown that if there is no covariance—someone who dislikes bagpipes is as likely to hate elevator music as someone who despises the organ, for example—fewer than 200 individuals of the world’s total population would enjoy this piece."

The song is brillant and horrible. Kids singing about shopping for Ramadan at Wal-Mart.... opera rap about being a cowboy...... The only thing going for it is that they made it unlikable on purpose.

If you want to take a listen "hear" it is ---

I liked this song when it first came out, but I'm sick of it now, as it gets played every night at work.

that's just as crappy as the whole britpop genre.

And rap.

I pretty much hate music that scores low on originality.

The Killers, while they suck, come from Las Vegas, not Britain, which may be some sort of an explanation.

Also, while I love TV on the Radio, after the album "Escape From Cookie Mountain" they started trying too hard to be this science-rock-dance-indie-math-techno bullshit and it is just impossible to listen to.

I also can't stand Hootie and the Blowfish, or that weird genre of country that the lead singer is doing now.

Every fucking song on MTV, the radio or whatsoever.

Edit: No wait, I DID like that song by Plain White T´s..."Hey There Delilah"...that one was pretty cute. But other than that - naah.

Anything by NICKELBACK

Snail Shell

Forgot to single out Nickleback and their atrocious country-meets-pop rock BS.

Good call.

If they want to be REAL 'rock stars' then they should stop making $h!tty muse-ak.

:beathorse:

I hate Guns 'n' Roses. It's not so music the music it's Axel chuffing Rose and his whining pre-pubescent voice. Ruins every song of theirs I've ever heard.

And I think I'm the only person left on earth who likes Creed!

You are not alone! Fuck what everyone else says, Creed rocks!

And everyone who hates Nickelback, I completely agree, they suck major balls.
But lets not forget shitty Hinder..."Lips of An Angel" makes me want to projectile vomit on everyone in range whenever I hear it. And anything by Aerosmith, AC/DC, Kid Rock, Coldplay, Guns n Roses...

You are not alone! Fuck what everyone else says, Creed rocks!.

Thank you! I feel vindicated because everytime I play their music in public, I catch hell!

But the guns n roses thing..my emotions are mixed. I remember when I used to deliver pizzas as a second job back in the day. That's the music I played to stay awake until 12 or 1am on my shift. I do like the music, but Axel Rose is a complete idiot! Is the man dead yet???

Anything by U2. I've tried to listen to them and it's great that Sir Bono wants to save mankind, but I don't get it, their music is average at best. I don't understand the hero worship that they garner. And while were at it someone needs to explain Cold Play to me too.

Alright, first off, I'm giving a huge apology to Skipededoodah for what I am about to say::xpeepsofa

Since the time of its inception, I frag-nagglin' HATE Hoobastank's "The Reason."

Honestly, if you really break it down, the only "reason" why this boring drivel ever became popular to begin with was because it was used in the final episode of Friends.

So, everybody in the western culture who spent more time glued to fictional characters in a make believe backdrop than actually going out and socialising with real people began to equate this moronic and inane noise with the "end of the good times." Apparently oblivious of a little thing called Syndication...That's right. Thanks to "Syndication," you don't have to live with the fear of actually leaving your house!

By the way, has anybody seen that Mad T.V. Phil Lamar Friends sketch? Brilliant!

Every fucking song on MTV

apparently you guys don't have "HEADBANGERS BALL" on MTV

i worked at a music store from about 1998-2001, I hate all songs from that time that were insanely popular. I hate when people say, oh, I remember that song from___, I danced with so and so, or was in the car and did this. Well, I can remember hearing it about 12,000 times. I know the lyrics to songs that I can not stand. I think that has really affected the music I listen to now cause I hate mainstream stuff with a passion. I like finding old songs, right now I'm into 70s soul and funk. And I do like when people give me really random recommendations, that is fun.

I find it hilarious when people say they can't stand anything mainstream. Like it's a personal choice to purposely avoid said music to seem sort of cool and pretentious.

At any rate, the majority of it is just boring mass produced garbage, but there is some good stuff out there.

Who remembers Natalie Imbruglia (I think I got that right)?

Her first song was called "Torn." It was a boring piece of donkey poo. I hated it.

Then she came out with the second song called "Wishing I was there." At least I think that was what it was called. It was good. It was really catchy. Unfortunately, it almost never saw any radio play.. Instead, we just got bombarded with that first crappy song.

Has anyone ever noticed that? An artist has two songs. One is god awful and hits number one, but the second one actually shows promise, yet never sees the light of day.

People who listen to music are stupid.:zombie:

"Stairway to Heaven" from Led Zepplin IV sucks. The Song Remains the Same version is a helluva lot better.

Okay.

I am seriously not loving that Marianas Trench song right now.
