I've noticed this question asked. A lot.

Literally NEST is the largest tickling gathering in the Eastern area, and probably the largest gathering overall. There is play and bondage available all weekend, and most importantly, FRIENDS! Events are planned for attendees so that they will never be bored or have trouble meeting others.
http://nestgatherings.com/

Above is a very cut and dry, academic version of what NEST is, but it does not by any means capture the essence of what it is to people who have experienced how wonderful it can be.

And so I've decided to create this thread because I'm hoping that veterans of NEST will be able to answer in their own way what NEST is to them. :) Whether you list experiences, favorite memories, funny stories, etc, it's all up to you. But the rule is...tell us what NEST is to you!

NEST is worrying yourself sick about everything going right,
and hoping everyone gets what they're expecting.

NEST is coming to Philly early to see some of my closest
friends before the big festivities start, and the craziness
begins.

NEST is sitting up til 3am at Daddy's house folding booklets
each and every year. Although this year we were done by 1!

NEST is being embarrassed at Staples when we have to get
the booklets printed, and more embarrassed that Lee isn't
fazed at all.

NEST is cramming Lee's car full of office supplies, NESTee
packets, games, and all sorts of other things. And then as
soon as we pull up to the hotel, getting a cart and watching
the swarm of amazing people that we love coming to unload.

NEST is always being shocked and surprised to see loved ones,
even the ones you already know will be there.

NEST is checking everyone in, jumping over the table to hug
people, and making mental notes to remember the names and
faces of people I've never met before, and usually failing. Woot
for nametags.

NEST is staying up too late, and waking up too early.

NEST is the dinner and talent show, and receiving some sort of
awesome and unique present from Dirk for my "behind the scenes"
work. I wouldn't have it any other way. I only serve the one who
truly makes it all happen.

NEST is being thrilled when you manage to get in some playtime,
and experiencing new things you never thought you would.

NEST is new beginnings, solidifying strong relationships, starting
up new ones, and truly getting to know people you've only been
casually acquainted with for years. And becoming a better person
because of it.

NEST is completely leaving the world of electronics for an entire
weekend, foregoing texting, emails, websites, and TV, and forgetting
that there is an outside world.

NEST is bawling your eyes out when you have to say goodbye to those
amazing people, and return to that outside world you forgot about.

NEST is coming home and writing as many things as you can think of,
from funny quotes, awesome things that happened, and making sure
you etch everything special so that you never forget the smallest details.

NEST is us. Next year, let it be you, too.

The first one of you assholes to call me cheesy or sappy
is getting a spider in your NEST packet next year.

I love Mondy's summary. The thing is, NEST is something different for everyone.

For me, it's a vacation. A chance to eat out and have fun and be silly. A chance to dress up (or down). A chance to see those people who just get it. And accept others for who they are. It's totally freeing and totally exhausting. After 6 NEST, I can honestly say no two are alike. Each year I get a little braver, a little more at ease (yes, for an introvert, it can be a bit overwhelming). Each year is more. More perfect. More insane (and yes, that can be a good thing). I'm blessed to meet new folks each year and reacquaint myself with the awesome folks I met at the previous years' gatherings. As DVNC used to say, it's all about the love. <3 Peace :)

...Riding in the hatch of Des's vehicle at 3:30am on a wild goose chase to Denny's while listening to the constant banter between Natural and Des, along with her intermittent outbursts at the GPS........ can't put a price on it!

NEST is hearing the wives scream "OH SHIT!!" when they realize they've been had......again.

NEST is spending 2 hours trying to organize a food run because there are so many people and so few cars.

NEST is seeing someone you haven't seen in months, maybe even since the year before and picking up like no time has passed at all.

NEST is the inevitable questions by the 'nilla guests, wondering why we're there and seeing how many Pokey, kered and a few others recruit.

NEST is me and Rhino cutting up on the most ridiculous shit and laughing so hard we damn near collapse.

But most importantly, NEST represents the fetish of our choice and let's us all be ourselves with no fear of judgment from our peers.

:bugeyed: You heard us???? Priceless!

Amanda, your post made me cry.

Wife, this is an awesome idea. I hope that the responses continue to be this good and it becomes a sticky in the NEST subforum. You rock :ily:

NEST is an opportunity for new experiences, new relationships and new memories.

NEST is a time when you can completely be yourself, even if you aren't quite sure what exactly yourself is.

NEST is a place of experiment and self-discovery.

NEST is a celebration of physical and emotional affection.

NEST is finding yourself surrounded by people who understand you better than your best and oldest friend.

NEST is seeing my best friends in the world and doing everything I can to make them know how much they mean to me.

NEST is anxiously awaiting these four precious days for months and months, and then not being anywhere near ready until the very last minute

NEST is instant camaraderie with 100 strangers.

NEST is overwhelming and intimidating - until you actually get there. Then it becomes comfortable and welcoming.

So, there you have it. GONAO!

Of course, if asked in the hotel by other non-NEST guests, the official cover story is it's a motivational speakers' convention.

Beautiful sentiments! Brought tears to my eyes...hopefully this doesn't earn me a spider in my packet next year!! LOL

NEST to me is....

A long 677 mile drive down a now familiar road with at least two people trying to kill me along the way.

Thinking I got there early only to be gang hugged and/or kissed by roving bands of NESTee's guarding the hotel.

Finding people you haven't seen in at least six months (or more) and picking up on the conversation like you just left the table five minutes ago and returned.

Seeing the smiles from the goofy gifts you brought to hand out as practical jokes. From Original screen prints on shirts to a giant family size box of Cheezits....for that special Lady. LOL

The NEWBIE Meeting. This is a highlight of the entire day for me. You have to experience this because trying to describe it just isn't good enough.

Jumping in to help tired and frustrated ladyfriends of mine get their room key by cutting through red tape at the front desk and ensuring that the hotel will be paid for the room. We Hoosiers call this "paying it forward" by returning a hand up we got in the past so that whom we help will remember and help someone else in the future.

Even thought I quit smoking a year and a half ago still being welcome to stand with The Smoking Crew.

Having a great dinner and enjoying the talent of our members as well as the friendship not only around the table but in the entire room.

Having dinner away from the hotel and watching a mohawk wielding, extremely large and powerful Viking knock a heavy electric door off it's track with very little effort and catching it then throw it back up where it was. And the damn thing still worked!

The same Viking's face as he tasted peanut butter for the first time. Now we need to bring more jars of Jif next year if the Viking returns.

Being fortunate enough to catch some shenanigans of a childish practical joke perpetrated by middle aged people who should know better.....And being jealous because I didn't think of it first.

Movie trivia with people under 25 years of age......because it is fun to make then stutter..*Right, Amy?* LOL

Slouching on a couch at 1am enjoying a well earned vodka buzz while the funniest jokes that you will never remember are keeping you in stitches.

Breakfasts with different people every morning amd learning the reactions of the new people attending this year while dining on french toast and BACON BACON BACON!!!!!

The main event Sunday with the laughter and the traditional skit acted out by Libertine and his lovely bride, Kittentoes, as well as the abductee of the day and various recruits helping out as they can.

Sunday evening when the wrist bands are removed and NEST is done. Starting to say the goodbyes is especially tough even after this fifth NEST. This part never gets easy.

Finally, the 677 miles home flashes by fast and I wonder why a long extended weekend is so short. Doesn't seem right that it should pass so quickly. So.....I start planning what I will take to NEST2012 in just 52 weeks.

love this and I love you!

NEST is validation that you aren't the only one...

NEST is being open and honest with yourself...

NEST is staring openly at the thing you love most happening in front of you like it was nothing...

NEST is watching someone get flustered trying to say tickle but falling back to 'it'...

NEST is watching that same person later on whispering, tickle tickle tickle in my ear as she destroys me...

NEST is people coming across the sea and and far flung locations...

My newbie take on the whole deal ...? NEST is a many-splendored thing. :redheart:

Anyone who has this fetish should experience its brilliance firsthand at least once in their life. Kill a relative if you have to , just go. 'Cause if you get any joy whatsoever out of seeing & being around people who're beyond happy for a few straight days , then it's totally worth it.

NEST = happy

I can only put NEST into a picture form:
