Gayest Class Ever

Well, it looks like today will be one of those long days. It's long enough as it is on Tuesdays and Thursdays since I arrive at school at 8 am and am usually not back home until 7 pm, but now I've learned that my mom has to go to a doctor appointment and is dragging me and my brother along since it starts at 6 and she won't have to drop us off at the apartment. But I'm just complaining. It should be okay since at least I'll be able to get some homework done in the waiting room. :)

OH, and I absolutely MUST share this hilarious little occurrence that happened in Brit Lit class on Tuesday. That was probably the gayest class session we've ever had. Why, do you ask? Well, because among the readings we were assigned the night before, there was this poem by a woman named Aphra Behn called "To the Fair Clarinda, Who Made Love To Me, Imagined More Than Woman". So it's basically a nice little lesbian love poem! :veryhappy: But it's nice because there's lots of word play involving gender so its ambiguous as to whether or not Clarinda is a hermaphrodite or something. Anyway...see, the professor always makes us read aloud our favorite excerpts/poems to the rest of the class and discuss what we liked about them and this tall, blonde Christian girl told the professor that her favorite reading was the...lesbian love poem. :D But no, that's not the funny part. The hilarious thing is that she thought it was written by a MAN!

OMG I tried so hard not to burst into laughter when she was going on and on about how "it's soooo sweet the way he talks about his love" and blah blah blah. :rowfull: And then my dear little Liberal Quaker professor pipes up and says "before we go any further, would it hinder your interpretation of this poem at all if you knew it was written by a woman?" And I shit you not, the girl was all "". She paused for a little bit and then said, "well...YEAH! Wow I had NO idea!" :roflmao: And then another girl said, "yeah, when I first read this poem I was so shocked when I found out it was written by a woman" and my professor said, "And there's nothing wrong with that". And at that comment, I was all ":woot:" inside my mind. XD

But I must explain. See, the reason why the Christian girl thought it was written by a man was because our Brit Lit book was arranged a weird way. It usually has the author's name at the top of the page, but the lesbian love poem written by Aphra Behn was the last of her writings in that book, so the page where it was on had the name of John Wilmont, 2nd Earl of Rochester because after that poem it had his introduction and the start of his writings. So yeah...really confusing. You wouldn't know it was written by a woman if you didn't bother flipping to the previous page and seeing Aphra Behn's name at the top of the other pages. Anyway, it was still just about the greatest thing I witnessed on Tuesday. :bwahaha: I mean...at the realization that it was written by a female, the girl had to pause and looked quite flustered. O__O She also stopped talking about it after that. XD It was like the sweet little love poem suddenly wasn't so sweet anymore once you change the gender of the author. Bwahaha! >:3 But yeah, just thought I'd share that on my blog since things like that don't happen to me everyday.

This weekend will be quite busy for me since I'll be working the cotton candy booth at the carnival. I'll somehow have to find a way to balance that with youth group on Saturday and seeing "Death at a Funeral". I'm not sure if I'll be seeing the movie on Friday or Saturday....hmm...yeah, let me get back to you on that. XD

And next weekend is pretty exciting as well. The new friend I made in youth group (Dustin) will be starring in his high school production of Jesus Christ: Superstar. :veryhappy: And I'll be suggesting to the leader of my youth group that we all take the 30 minute trip to go and see him in it. :D I think he's playing one of the Apostles. He said he has a solo, too. ^_^ I'm such a sucker for a good musical and if it has one of my friends in it, that makes it all the more special. So that'll be pretty fun! That boy is such a sweetie and I know he'll make an excellent catch for some lucky man someday. :bubbleheart: But I swear he looks like Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers.

Other events I need to keep tabs of is my friend's baby shower which she'll be having sometime before July 1st, which is the day her baby should be due. She's the one I mentioned on one of my past blogs as being one of my best friends (we go back since 2nd grade) and that I was shocked that she got pregnant at such a young age. But she seems to be doing just fine and I'm really happy for her. :D We're also planning to see a movie before the due date. No idea what that'll be, but...XD

OH, and my mom went ahead and registered me for my orientation at IU and booked a hotel that's on campus as well. The orientation starts at 8 am and since it takes about 3 hours to get to Bloomington, we definitely don't wanna get up an ungodly hour, rush to get out the door, and then just barely make it to the orientation. I think that should be sometime in early July. It sucks being a n00b at a University and they won't let you register for classes early...especially when you're technically a junior, not a freshman. I hope I won't get the shit classes. >.<

And now onto the fun part of the blog...the video of the day! :woot:
This one will be the music video to the song "Look Through My Eyes" by Phil Collins. It's from one of the greatest Disney movies in existence: Brother Bear. :D I've been a fan of this song for 7 years. This was my jam when I was going through puberty. :veryhappy:

Gotta love Mr. Collins. :redheart:

And now I better head to Brit Lit class. Here's hoping something gay will happen. :fingerscrossed:
