Headaches

I've had this weird kind of headache for a few years now and it's very on and off. Doesn't seem to follow any kind of pattern based on light, food, stress or otherwise. I've been looking into the different kind of headaches that exist, and the closest one that could describe it is a migraine, except for those are described as a throbbing pain and mine is not.

It feels like there is a heat in my brain, like it's slow cooking. I often feel like the only way to make it better is to open my skull in some weird cartoon fashion and either drop some ice cubes in or just let the heat out. It feels hot but without a large amount of pressure (at least on areas like my face and eyes - any type of pressure exists LITERALLY in the direct middle of my brain). Today it came out of no where while we were having our Christmas party with the kids and I immediately felt sick to my stomach. Suddenly every noise, conversation, light in the room, and action being done around me felt like too much for my brain to handle. I popped 4 ibuprofen, but the effect was minimal. After our A.M. class left, I felt some relief. By the time P.M. came around I don't recall feeling overwhelmed by it. By the time I got home, however, the raging heat and internal pressure was back (sort of by my ears but more inward). I tried to stick it out but ended up laying down for about 3 hours.

I'm up now and the heat is still there. I took a hot bath in the dark hoping that it would relax my muscle if this was somehow stress related - no luck. I've been daydreaming that it suddenly snows so I can stick my big, stupid head in a pile of it. Also in cartoon fashion, I imagine the snow melting all around it while finally experiencing some relief. As I sit here, I'm beginning to feel sick again because out of the corner of my eye one of my lamps is lighting up the room...and apparently my brain.

At a lot of websites I've visited, they mention that diet, stress, and sometimes exercise/caffeine intake can cause varying levels of brain pain. I'm wondering if this is anything to visit the doctor about or if I should continue my own little research and continue to modify diet and sleep. (Hell, I've lived with it for this long, what's a little longer?) I just imagine going into an office and leaving frustrated because they would tell me something I could've found out with 5 minutes of web surfing (thus has been my experience with most doctors so far - 40 minutes of waiting, 3 minutes of examination, DURRRRR diagnosis, disappointment in humanity, 60-100 dollar bill).

"Oh you have a headache? Drink more water...annnnnnd...eat. Take ibuprofen whenever you feel it coming on. That will be 5 million dollars."
