Infinite Power. Not all it's cracked up to be?

I feel I'll keep with the 'rant' blogs that we've got going on and create my own. I could disclaimer it with the usual, "this isn't about anyone specific", but we all know that's bullshit, don't we? If you're going to disclaimer something at least try to live UP to the disclaimer or else it kinda becomes null and void.

It's always funny whenever a problem gets put onto one person, or even a small group of people. For example; someone declining to post in a thread, or even post at all. That automatically gets blamed on whomever happens to be in an "clique", this said "clique" strictly being developed by those who choose by their own accord not to participate but feel the dire need to direct that reasoning unto someone else.

It ebb and flows a bit, until someone who feels that they are within said established "clique" (although they vehemently deny there ever being one), and gets confronted, no holds barred by another person.. also established in aforementioned clique. Tempers flare and all of a sudden they are quickly dumping that cause onto the person they are upset with. Why? Probably because it's convenient. Pick a word that's going to grant instant attention and throw; it'll stick, definitely.

Then you have the folks who knew and acknowledged a title that was given to them and due to whatever set of circumstances had to decline away for awhile. Upon returning they realize within their own mind that they feel they're no longer "#1". As if there ever should be one. First feeling that they rationalize with is of course going to be negative. The only person to help justify whatever it is they are feeling is the one that they feel has taken away what they coveted so dearly at one time or another. Alas, more friction.

Then you have these never-heard or seen of folks who are actually the ones pulling the strings. These are the folks who slip in through the cracks and place the labels on the people. Their job is quiet and never normally seen. They rely on those who are frequent contributors to help further establish what it is that they've created. So, when the shit hits the fan and these labels come to front and center, then there's no-one pointing a finger at the creator, only those who are stuck with the label. Irony ensues. How? Easy. Those causing said shit to hit said fan are realizing that they don't have said label or desire one of a different kind. Where does the fault lie? Only upon those who wear the label of which they seek.

Why doesn't it just end there? Well, that's when the Gods come in. These are a particular apparently 'select' few folks who are given a civic duty of maintaining some status that is higher then even an Administrators (without the colors and bold/italic print, that is). Most of them become this 'God' regardless of if they don't desire to be it. It's more or less a luck (or lack of) the draw. It's a shit-ass job basically. But folks need someone with broad shoulders to dump on, so it goes on regardless.

These folks have a job to follow a line of standards that are always unspoken, but apparently very clear; Post, post, post, post. Swallow criticism and prepare to deflect drama, but take responsibility for every issue that arises. In other words, you need to be PERFECT. One slip up and you have a shitload of people wielding weaponry and articulate words.

Due to the metaphorical crown that is passed on every (roughly) year or so, there is never a way to completely write a Cease and Desist clause. So with the proverbial passing of the torch, a new series of label's are quietly administered and the whole cycle starts over again.

Is there ever love between those folks out there? Absofuckinglutely. Even those who don't get along within every thread, manage to carry the maturity to shrug off the differences and appreciate the similarities that they and the other person share. That's the beauty of it. Those of the more shallow and bitter mind-set proceed to scoff at their label and rebel. Rebellion albeit being healthy can be delivered very badly. You end up having to walk a fine-line and risk losing those that you thought and hoped were as close to you as they had once claimed they were. Is it their fault? No. You, silly, were the one who felt the dire need to change your label. And then went about it poorly.

You know who really gets the most out of what it is they seek? Another group. The un-named. This is a group that even The God(s) try to get into. What's so special about this group? Nothing and everything. These are a varied, actually large group of folks who actually ENJOY what it is that they do, ENJOY the people that they meet and more or less manage to shrug off the widely spread almost plague like drama that ensues.

Sure they'll pipe in with their opinion, even sometimes going as far as locking horns with a 'Labeled', but in the end and when the dust clears, they could care less about the exact outcome. It's not hard to be a part of this group, unless of course you've been deemed a God. Then you're basically locked into a contract that'll cause you to suffer if you attempt to break it. Those who are 'Labeled' are too busy trying to change their label or push up to God status to really care, although there are few who realize how good it really is to be un-named and ditch the label.

And those folks are whom everyone should strive to be. But those groups of us that are far too focused on fighting a constant war, never take the time to appreciate what could be.

I guess you never know you truly made it until you've managed to cause folks to want to host a mass-ignore against you.
