If you read my blog then you know I've had some success asking massage therapists to tickle me. Normally I wait pretty far into the massage, building up some rapport via chit-chat, before asking casually if they'd mind doing a little tickling at the end to help wake me up. Sometimes I don't ask, if I get a vibe like it would be too awkward for them (perfectly reasonable). I've gotten a yes every time I've asked. I think building that trust before the ask is key.
Anyway, today it turned out that the therapist and I were in a college study group together, so we already had the trust built.
She's about 5'6" with a modestly athletic build (regular exerciser). Fine, neatly parted, straight shoulder length dark brown hair. Naturally smiling dark brown eyes and an easy almost impish smile. A rich, low voice with a lot of spunk and excitable range. Very curious learner and well-educated. I could tell by the way that she drifted back to my most ticklish spots that she was studying me. Type-A competitive personality, but does volunteer work and stuff so a softer side too.
So I asked her before the massage even started. Her response shocked me. It was basically "what a great idea! I can totally see why that would be beneficial." The hour massage itself was filled with catching up on life and whatnot since we hadn't seen in each other in a while. Then she lifted the sheet off my feet and asked "so, how would you like me to do this" and I said "tickle me like you're trying to get me to roll off the table." She let out this extra-delighted laugh and went at it like a pro - nails under the toes, arches, scribbling quickly.
She went at it for like two full minutes since we were over time from the talking anyway. Some quotes from during the tickling (from her, mostly, and me through the squirming laughter):
"This is so awesome!"
"I can't help laughing too!"
"This is the most fun thing any client's ever asked me to do!"
"How did you figure out about this?" (Me: "I tried it once, and the endorphin rush like doubled the natural high from the massage.")
"This is the best thing I've done all day!"
"I can't believe no one else has thought of this!"
Me (feeling bold): "I love it. I could go on for 15 minutes like this."
"Ha, ha... tickle talk?"
Me: "Definitely makes it better."
"Ooh... tickle tickle!"
Me: "Oh my God!"
And the clincher, after she'd stopped:
"We'll have to find a way to work more of this in next time!"
She got a REALLY healthy tip. Hopefully, the first of many.
