A woman dunked a Basketball in the Tenn. game, is it really a big deal.

Ok, I ve been watching ESPN last night/this morning and they are going over the highlight of the woman in the Tennesse womens game that dunked. Now Okay, the dunk is impressive, not many women can or do dunk.
But then this blonde womens basketball commentator and a few others are hailing this is "now more will people will watch womens basketball, because weve got the dunk" How ridicilious is that. Just because 1 or 2 women can dunk people are going to watch and pay more attention to womens basketball.
I hate to burst her/their bubble but the average sports fan still doesnt care. Womens Basketball will still rank in the bottom 15 of a list of 20 televised sports, right below golf (minus tiger) and bowling.
Now Im not putting down womens sports....and IM not saying women arent athletes...IM just saying put things into prespective. That dunk wasnt "The shot heard around the world" it was "the drip that was noticed a little"
Im not going to watch women's basketball because someone can dunk, but Ill watch the highlight.

my husband enjoys watching some women's basketball, and my uncle always goes to the local college in his area to watch women's basketball. there are some great players in the women's league. heck, my mom played basketball in highschool and that was back in the um late 40's i think..

and to answer your question.. no i dont think its all that big a deal for a woman to dunk a basketball, heck some of those women are taller than male basketball players.

It will not make me watch the game more because of a dunk. It is a dumb statement. If I watch a game regardless of gender it is because it has the potenial of being a good game or is an intriuing matchup. Not because someone can take a ball and dunk it or because someone has the potential of hitting a long homerun. It is because of the game. Not for any other reason.

I disagree with you G. the main reason why people look at male basketball vs. female basketball is that the game is more physical, the possibility of a monster dunk, someone able to hang in the air for what seems like a life time to jam a ball in the hoop.

Female basketball is more technically sound, they pass better and play better as a game. Male bball in the pro’s is about look at me, look at what I can do.

I would not watch female basketball because it’s slower and less physical than males.
