Girlfriends are not on a need-to-know basis.

Then again all of these opinions are meaningless. The guy knows the risk he runs and everyone involved understands the consequences of the decisions they make. If the girlfriend found out, there'd be a fight, maybe a breakup, maybe nothing, who knows. As much as people want to talk about who has what right to privacy, all that matter is how the girl would react.

None of the opinions are meaningless to me. I've found little bits of insight that I didn't have before in almost every single one. The idea of this thread wasn't for anyone to solve my problem. It was for me to get some feedback and opinions from people who aren't so close to the situation, but at the same time might be able to understand where I'm coming from -- and also just to spur some conversation about a topic that I hadn't seen discussed before. The discussion forums, TK especially, seem to have been lacking in that area a bit lately, in my opinion, so I thought this would be interesting if nothing else.

Some people are giving responses in the spirit of "do this because...." when there really is nothing that can be done, or at least justified beyond "here's option 1 with consequences and here's option 2 with consequences". Opinions about rights to this and that are cool, but I don't think it's wise to try to convince someone that anything but what I said is going to happen.

I agree to a degree, no one can really know what's going on or what should be done aside from who is involved. But it made me uncomfortable when I read you saying that people's thoughts here didn't matter. Perhaps I misread the way you intended it. 🙂 But even if I'm not involved in this situation, I really do like to hear other people's thoughts on the matter, I love the discussion, and I'd hate to see it end with a, "This is negligible, end of story".

Forgive me, but I'd rather continue hearing what other people have to say as well, rather than just defer to you. You have your opinion, which I don't disagree with entirely, but others have theirs as well, and they're just as valid. I don't think it's very polite to suggest otherwise. We all have different experiences we draw from when we give our advice or input on a situation - which is why they're all relevant.
