Liner Notes: I saw Disney's Tangled, their hipster retelling of the classic fairytale of Rapunzel, the classical German folktale compiled by the Brothers Grimm, about a poor gal kept prisoner in a high tower, who apparently did not have access to a pair of scissors… or something to pick the lock with, in spite of having all the time in the world to try. But I only watched it once. And once was enough. There is only so much hyper-detail and colorful foo foo I can take. In spite of this, Rapunzel herself was wonderfully animated, obviously rotoscoped from a live actress acting the part. The CGI on her emotional range and movement is as smooth as a bucket of butter frosting… and perhaps just as nauseating in the same bucketfuls heaped on my poor captive attention.
So here, in C.A.B.s retelling of their retelling; Mother Gothel does the right thing, and corrects the behavior of her ward; a wayward girl that runs off with a doooood she invited up to her room for a few hours and makes for the first tarven she can find. Naughty, naughty. A little tickle torture in the public stocks may help the gal tone down her fast track to town harlot-ville.
