Am i the only one who wishes Letterman would get asked to host the Oscars again?

No slam on Chris Rock if that is more your scene, but for my money- I'm a Dave man.

Am i alone in this?

No, I actually thought Dave did a good job. It would have been nice if the Academy and Carson had made up and he returned to hosting; and Whoopie and Steve Martin were so hit and miss (some really good stuff one year, tremedously bad another). I liked Billy Crytsal, and I'll be tuning in for Chris, but I'd like to see Dave again.

Only thing I'd change - leave his video taped comedy pieces out. The show is long enough!

Yeah, I'm for Dave. I can't take five minutes of Chris Rock, never mind three plus hours.

I'm actually looking forward to the Oscars having a little edge. I like Billy Crystal and Dave Letterman both, but they're very predictable and tame. Chris Rock, in my opinion, is a lot more likely to say something both true and offensive about some of the more ridiculous aspects of the Academy Awards, which is probably long overdue.

Billy is probably my fav past host. I wouldn't have any problem with him hosting again. While Letterman can be funny, I simply don't like him. Dunno why. Nothing wrong with the guy. I just can't get into him. Chris Rock, while he has one of the most annoying voices on the planet is funny and gutsy enough to pull something. We'll probably tune in...at least for a bit...and see how things are going.

I am with Jeff on this one. The award shows have become nothing short of extremely boring and predictable over the last few years.

I am for "spicing" it up a bit. I think the new format additions and Chris as host will help the ratings and make it more interesting.

After turning the Grammys off halfway through I am looking for something to entertain.....

I liked Billy as a host. In the 90s I threw "black tie only" Oscar parties where people bet money for who'd win. Now that I'm a grownup, I'm clueless about most of the movies out there, until they come on PPV anyhoo. I miss those lazy days...

I remember Chevy Chase did it one year. Coming back from
a comercial break, was a tight shot of Chevy picking
his nose!

Dave Letterman behaved exactly like he always does;

"Oprah- Uma!" "Uma- Oprah!"

I liked it when Whoopie was lifted up by the 'peter
pan' wire. She was wearing a funky feather dress.I would
have liked to catch her at dress rehearsal!😀

Definitely want to see Rock!

Point taken Jeff,
Award shows sorely need a little spice, but in the wake of the Janet Jackson nipple-gate debacle of last year I can't shake the feeling that Rock's vaunted edge is going to be tempered by an army ABC execs, fingers poised on their 5 second delay buttons, only too anxious to stay out of the FCC's crosshairs.

They've already cut some of Robin Williams prepared material
(cf. http://www.drudgereport.com/flash3oc.htm )

Guess i am just worried that we are in for the old bate and switch; lure them in with the promise of controversy and spice then feed them the same old warmed-over Purina.

Tonight will tell, I guess.

I heard Albert Brooks was doing a bit. Could they get him to host!??? I might even sit through the best sound editing in a Chinese animated documentary category for that.

Hey, Steph - guess where I'm going tonight! My first party. Why did I wait until now when I have seen almost none of the movies up for major awards this year....??

You'll work it out love, I have total confidence. Have a great time and share details if ya want when you recover! 😉

I was at an Oscar party last night. To make along story short, a lot of what went on, especially the bit with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock filling in for Catherine Zeta-Jones just didn't work. The most exciting thing about the whole show was when one of the female party guests kicked off her shoes and sat around barefoot all night... her husband was there, so all I could do was admire from afar.

I'm glad Jamie Foxx won the Oscar for Best Actor. Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Hilary Swank deserved their awards as well.

Details? Too much Beyonce! 3 songs in one night? Girlllll!

Chris Rock was good. Didn't know what to expect.

Huh! The party was held at The Studio Movie Grill here in Dallas. Since it was my birthday weekend, I wanted to go out Saturday, but all my guy friends were out of town. So Plan B was to hang out with some of my female friends from high school that I'm getting back in contact with (they have been wanting to all get together before the official reunion). Well, they all bailed out on me too. What's up with that? Balls and haberdashery!! So I go to Plan F'ing C and invite one of my computer nerdling friends, who may or may not show up because he had a sci-fi convention that weekend. The show/party/buffet was fine, but I put the tickets on my credit card. Guess who doesn't show up with cash to pay me back? THEN he wins one of the prizes in the ticket drawing. Whos' birthday was it??? He got a night out and won a Wolfgang Puck Oscar Cookbook. Puck him!

When will it be Marty Scorscese's night?
