I'm sure most of you have heard this story by now, if not here is the link to it.

Part of me is kind of angered by the fact that one team would disrespect another like that and keeping running the score up in the fourth quarter by using a full-court press and launching 3 pointers. But the other part of me feels that Dallas Academy should have been able to score some points and not get held to 0.
I wouldn't be annoyed by the running up the score part if these were professional athletes and I doubt I would be if these were college athlete who are rewarded with a scholarship, but we're talking about teenage girls at a school of just 20 people on a team of 8. None of those girls are on a scholarship to play for their school when the team hasn't won a game in 4 seasons. I don't blame the girls on the other team so much as I do their coach. Should the girls on the Covenant team thought to pull up some? Yeah sure, but I think it goes back to the coach still calling a full court press in the 4th and allowing them to shoot 3 pointers. Sports is about more than just winning. There is an element of sportsmanship (or sportswomanship should it be the case) that is involved and blowing a team out like that sends the wrong message.
