Who will win the 2004 World Series?

I have given the 8 teams that have achieved post season play as choices, in alphabetical order by nickname. I have added a ninth choice for a certain Cubs fan.

Of course, you may vote anonymously, or post a response to let us know of your views. 😀

As I've posted on here before, Iam a die hard Braves fan. I would have loved to have picked the Braves for your post, but I also have to be a realist, so I went with the Cardinals. They just seem too strong and too balanced to be beaten by Atlanta or any other team. Of course, as we well know, regular season doesnt mean World Series champ, as every team starts the playoffs 0-0. If anyone had told me that in a postseason last year involving the Braves, Yankees, and Cubs that the Marlins were going to win the World Series, I'd have bet against it, but this is why they dont play postseason games on paper. So, although I would hope and pray for my Braves to have a magicial postseason, and squeeze one more championship out of these 13 division titles in a row, I want to try and be a realist, and say that even if they get out of the first round with Houston, St Louis should beat Atlanta if the Cards get to the NLCS with as good of a team as they are, and the home field. We'll see what happens, but my pick for 2004 champion is St Louis. I think they can even beat the mighty Yankees if it's a Cards-Yankees World Series, as the Yankees just dont seem to have enough pitching to win it all.

Tis the season of the Cardinal.

Matters NOT who they play.

Yay! Cardinal fans..finally able to help me fight off the Cubbies fans!

I voted for my Braves....but that's a vote with my heart. My head says they'll crash and burn in the playoffs as they've done the past few seasons (but who knows...maybe they'll surprise me this October 🙂

I think the Yankees have the most experience but their pitching is too suspect. Their most reliable starter, El Duque has arm trouble. Mussina is not a big game pitcher, good pitcher yes, big game, no. Leiber is hot and cold. If he gets the ball up, he gets spanked, and Vasquez has had a poor second half. Not good momentum going into the postseason.

Being a NL fan, I think the Cards are too good offensively and their pitching is no slouch either.

What would be interesting if it turns out to be the Yankees and Astros, with Clemens coming back to the scene of the crime.

Any native San Diego would sooner commit suicide than root for the Los Angeles flea-infested Dogs.

Go ANGELS!!!!!

Stick with your wretched SD Pondscum, then, who have never won the World Series. 😀

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict the curse to end for the Red Sox 😀 Okay, I know hockey, not baseball 🙄

now what do you think JPie is voting for here??

Go Bronx Bombers!!!

We forgive you and we still love you, Jpie.

It is easy to root for the players like Jeeter and A-Rod while forgetting about how much of a cancer the teams primary owner is to the game of baseball/

The American league will come down to the sox and yanks battling yet again. I fear the Angels are all done Lime as the Redsox have beaten them into submission for the first 2 games in their own home stadium and will probably put them out of their misery on Friday.

I have faith that the Yanks will hang in there as well after watching them win game 2 in 12 innings when a lesser team would have given up.

They will probably win it in 5 games giving the Sox a little time to rest in between. This will give the Sox pitching staff a definite edge in a playoff series with the yanks and I predict a Redsox victory this time around.

If the Sox get in, it will not matter who they play for the World Series as they will have already surmounted their biggest obstacle by defeating NY.

Sorry Ray, but the Yanks are done. The Twins doesn't lose much at home, and even if it goes 5, they do not want to see Johan Santana again. His stuff is filthy😀

Dont have to be sorry NT...I would rather play the Twins than the Yanks any day...😀

It appears that all is going as I said it would. The Sox have made quick work of the Angels and now have time to rest the pitching staff. They got a great game out of Arroyo and and their short relief looked good at the end of the game last night after the grand slam fiasco. Like the Yanks you cant count them out.

The Yanks will lose the next game and win in five. The sox will take them , but it will come down to the last game.

Then St. Louis will feel the wrath of those who have been cursed these many years......

You take as a matter of fact that St. Louis will win the NL pennant. It ain't over 'til it's over. I'm stilll rooting for the Dodgers to win three in a row. 😀

To quote a phrase I am quite familiar with.....

"Wait until NEXT year!"

Sorry Mil....St. Louis has it wrapped.

(this from a closet Cards fan)

I think St Louis has the ovr all best team at the moment. Sorry Mils, Lima pitched a great game and even if Perez comes back, they will lose game 5 in St. Louis.

The fight of the century is all set in the AL as of tonight.

It ain't over 'til it's over. I'm now rooting for the Dodgers to win two more in a row. 😀
