I agree with Carso completely about the Women's tournament, btw. Hard to watch when there's no competition outside of two teams :shrug:

Right now I'm flipping between 4 events on four different channels, posting here and on FB.... :panic:

The important thing is that they still have more goals than the USA. Which means that they just have to win on Sunday to clinch the bye. Having fewer goals would mean they would have had to win in regulation.

Stat-man speaks the truth, though they really should aim for a regulation win and show Canadians that they're there to play and win.

Just under a week and we have 7 medals... not bad and while I hope to see it, I just don't see Canada cracking 20 with the Americans and Germans looking to clean up shop. It's going to start getting real good now, with more speed skating and Canada's secret weapon - freestyle aerials!

As for the men, I agree with T, the Canadians just squeaked out a win - your team is in the top position but Canada has more goals, meaning they just need a win in any regard to take top spot - SUNDAY IS GOING TO BE F***ING EPIC!!! :gbtoast: :canada: :happyhop: :canada: :gbtoast:

On another note, have you been keeping tracking of the Curling tournys? The Canadian men have been on a quest to crush anything in front of them. The women haven't been as dominant, but are still 3 - 0. :woot:

All four golds in hockey and curling = perfect Olympics for Canada, regardless of the final medal count.

NO! Canada did not have trouble with the Swiss! We are being polite and merciful, as we are Canadians and acknowledging the fact that Jonas Hiller has mad skillzorz between the pipes. Canada is assured the Gold medal without magnificent amount of effort, just as Cheerios are assured to return to the surface of the milk.

And Chuck Norris shall remove his Skeleton outfit just in time to beat Sweden for the Bronze in hockey. :canada: :slapfight: :sweden:

Heh, I expected Russia to be a much more competitive nation in winter sports...? 😕 :shrug: I mean, it's not like they lack the snow, and with a population of almost 142 million, you'd at least expect them to be up there with Scandinavia (cirka 25 million, counting Finland and Iceland).
 
Soooo... our secret weapon turned out to be a flop, the Canadian Hammer Bros. had no hammer to them in the 1500 short-track final, and one of two Canadian bobsleds went the way of that amazing Jamaican bobsled team, just without the cheers...

I know only Curling and Hockey matter... but damn, this almost hurts! >_<

As they are hosting the 2014-games, they are careful not to be caught using doping this time. And without cheating, this is the level they are at presently.

The score is currently 2 - 1 for the USA after one period, with Canadians scoring all three goals; Crosby, Staal and Brodeur. :banghead:

3-2 USA right now. Not very deservedly perhaps, since Canada has been really good.

Interesting to note is that Crosby's line has been in on all the US goals so far! :bugeyed:

It is at this point I would like to point out that the Canadian's Men's Curling team is atop the standings at 7 - 0 and can enter the playoffs no worse than 2nd.
