apologies but ickle octopus one didn't fit in scanner {got bit carried away with scale}, and so a little bit was cut off. doesn't detract from picture though

also apologies for lack of updates - much art coursework i shud be doing, in fact i be off in a sec to do more :/

*sigh* life is work no?

ttfn

hopes stuff is liked

meachr

p.s. - having trouble uploading fullsized pics to files section as yahoo is being a poopey pants - will post asap - sorry :/

Cool pics

The range of items, objects and animals as subjects in your sketches that you can make look effortless to sketch is endless. I bow to your infinite skill. Great work and I eagerly wait for your next sketches.

The update was pretty good. However, as advice, you might want to put more definition into the lines, and make them darker when they need to be. I realize that these are sketches and therefore don't necessarily warrant full-time attention, but darkening the lines of the picture would help alot. Reason being is it makes the objects look like they are really there, they are solid, and they are not transparent. You might also want to have the addition of shading in your pictures like you have in some of your better ones.

Good pictures though. And if its not too much of a trouble, could you post the links to the pictures directly next time? It would be more convienient for alot of people I'm sure. I do it for my members and fans, and I'm sure yours would appriciate the same thing. 🙂

Keep up the good work.

Awesome as always

Meachr,

I really like your artwork. If you are interested, when you have a page that is too big for the scanner, you can just scan it in pieces and I can join them for you in Photoshop. I can also help with darkening lines like Celtic Emp suggested or even add color like I do for the Kittletown comics featured on Tickletown.

Keep up the good work.

Beautiful as always, my friend. I look forward to the full-sized versions, once Yahoo is nice enough to allow it...

I haven't forgotten about your Monsters, Inc. request, btw. I may have to rent the film to get it right, though. I'm working on that...

WOWW!

Love them both. And don't worry about the time it takes updating. You are updating more often than anyone truely expects you. Just keep doing quality work, and people will never notice the wait inbetween.

PS, love everything you do!!!

Nice pics again, man. I gather you're quite young (I think you're 18 and you are doing art coursework), so you'll definitely improve over the years you'll stay here and stuff all your critics. I started at 18 myself and I've gone quite far with my own work!

praise be to the deity of your choice! yahoo works again

fullsize versions of last post are now available! 😎

rajee: - thanku very mooch, i must thank everyone also for such warm welcome to community and praise of work.

Celtic_Emperor: - I see what u mean, a lot of them are very pale [doesn't help i been using biro for a while due to lack of decent pens]
- just at the moment takes me long enough to perfect the sketch to what i am reasonably happy with
- i may actually PAINT something later on if i find time. 😀
- thanks for comments though

DallasFootTickler: - help yourself to colouring of pics, i lack neccessary tools [mental note - get decent computer graphics program] at the moment, i am creating a "coloured" folder for group as we speak,
- someone else did offer to do some colouring for me but no further communication was made. I would appreciated it if u could do a nice photoshop jobby 😀

U.N.Owen: - hehe yes so u shud be renting it 🙂

critterlord: - thankyou oh loyal one.

grippedchimp: - yup right u are [finishing A levels at present],
i hope i improve, but seeing as i only really bothered to attempt anime style stuff within last few months i see no reason why i wudn't improve at least slightly 🙂

--> might "borrow" girlfriends how to draw manga books

*breaths out*

farewell for now - back to drawing owls and painting robed ppl looking concerned....

As always, you really have to see 'em full-sized to fully appreciate 'em -- and I really do appreciate 'em.

Great work, as usual. You might want to take up Dallas' offer, though, when you have the time, and scan the octopus in 2 pieces to be joined together. It's a shame to have the composition cut off like that... (and I really like tickling octopi).

Coloring

Cool. I'll choose one of my favorites of yours and see what I can do with it. It may be a while though because Oblesklk just got back in town last night and sent me the next batch of Kittletown comic pages for TickleTown. I need to get those colored as soon as possible since we are already into April and we are going to want those on the site quickly. Once I take care of my responsibilities to this month's TickleTown, I'll get to work on one of your pics.

Thanks,
DFT 🙂

thanks a lot for that
until i can be bothered/have time/ability to do colouring of my stuff
ur welcome - thanks a lot

much appreciated

*where's that thesaurus?*

seriously top notch job there thanks loads
i created a folder specially in group 🙂

tis a free-for-all folder so if u have time to do any others u can use up space in my group

thanks a million again - great work!! 😀

Thanks for the compliments

Glad you liked it. I have some other stuff on my plate right now but if I ever get the urge to do more coloring I'll definitely grab another one of yours.

-DFT

That really is excellent! How'd you do it, though? It looks like watercolors.

Thanks for the compliment, U.N.

I opened up Meachr's drawing in Photoshop and first used the Brightness and Contrast adjustment to clean up a bit of the lines. The basic coloring technique is to select the area to be colored and then use the Variations under the Image -> Adjustments menu to tint the selection. I then use the Dodge and Burn tools to add shading where needed or to enhance the shading already present.

Hope this answers your question. I am happy to recieve positive feedback about the coloring job.

As I mentioned in a post above, I have some other things I am working on at the moment but I do plan to color another one of Meachr's images in the future simply because they are wonderfuly done. I realy like the way the feet are drawn in them.

Thanks,

-DFT

Interesting. The effect really looks like handcoloring in watercolor. Skillfully done.
