80s Music You Hated Then And Still Hate Now

Oh God yes, "Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads! AAIIIIIIIIEEE!

I actually liked most of what else is being mentioned! I loved Loverboy, Madonna, Air Supply, NKOTB, Toto, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Soft Cell, Berlin, Sheena Easton. Hell, I was a true child of the 80's.

Two big songs of the 80's I DESPISED, though, that everyone else seemed to love were "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes, and "Heat of the Moment" by Asia. *cringe*

Mimi 😉

ahh how could you hate owner of a lonely heart??? lol now the other one i agree with shudders

Let's see....

every song from Loverboy
"Fantasy" -Aldo Nova
every song from Billy Squire
every song from Adam Ant.......only when he went solo, I was a fan of the band Adam and the Ants
"Our House" -Madness.......awesome group with lots of great songs, this top 40 hit/coffee commercial wasn't one of them.

Let's really piss people off now.....

"Born in the Usa" -Bruce Springsteen......total garbage!

Hi Guys!

Am I the only one who thinks that 'Huey Lewis and the News' :xlime: was, is and always will be the most over-rated bland band ever to exist. They were even worst than Duran Duran or Culture Club. And don't even get me started on the 'Miami Vice' inspired pastel suits...ugh!

I love Our House Some of Billy Squire's songs were good Others sucked

I was a huge KISS fan when I was a kid... well actually KISS is a 70'S product but they were big in the 80's as well.....

yep I was a big KISS fan...even belonged to the KISS Army lol....until my big brother introduced Led Zeppelin, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Who and Black Sabbath to me.... and I'm grateful to him forever for that. I still don't hate KISS but they sound so simple and uninspiring when I listen to them now...

I totally agree about Madonna....I think she's just a product....average or less than average pop singer....horrible actress....

Duran Duran and Kajagoogoo weren't that great, either. Lionel Ritchie, Billy Ocean, Sheena Easton, Laura Branigan... crap.

Men At Work was one of the good ones tho'. And I don't mind Cindy Lauper...at least she was original...

I cant believe my eyes on some of the stuff thats come up in the past 24 hours LOL now im disagreein with half and agree with half. Talking Heads were an AWSOME group up till the 1985 lp. I agree "Burning Down The House" is a bit over played and I dont really care for that tune, but the rest of that LP..FUCKIN SOLIDDDDD! Guess it just shows we all have different tastes. The Soft Cell tune I didnt mind back then..but since the 90s I wouldnt care if I never heard it again..from the 90s - today they turned it into a damn comercial masses side show!

I was a die hard Men fan..bought all 3 of their LPs (yes even the one that bombed in 85 lol). Duran Duran is one of my fave groups of the 80s, they were great till the late 80s when they lost half the members..then by the 90s forget it!

hey without our different tastes in music and whatnot the world would definitely be a dull place to be... with that being said hmmmm sorry folks but i hated abba... they did sing in the eighties right???

isabeau

ps their voices grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr grated on my ears so badly..

Bairly..only thing they had was their final LP in 1981..so I really dont count em as 80s. I do agree though, Abba sucked shit aside from 3 or 4 tunes that they had in the very late 70s that hit the club charts (and hell no "Dancing Queen" was not one of em!). The 2 guys from Abba though did do a masterpiece in 1984 with Tim Rice and made the musical "Chess" which "One Night In Bangkok" came off of. Its prob the only musical I actualy dig in full and can listen to!

How could I have forgotten.....anything from Michael Bolton. The crappy singer, not the guy from 'Office Space'.

i hate all 80`s music.......but for some reason i can`t.........stop......listening......

stuff I can't stand...

-All of the Starship nonsense once they weren't Jefferson Starship anymore...total bullshit.
-Anything Chicago did after about 1978....complete sell-out.
-The later Journey stuff and solo Steve Perry.
-Any of the hair band music.
- "Putting on the Ritz" I think I mentioned that on another post...I still hate it.
-solo Sting (still applies).
-Anything by Survivor
That's all for now...I'll think of more!

i hated whoever sang lunatic fringe. yuckkkkkk i think that was the eighties?

That was Red Rider. (good one for the one-hit wonder thread!)

How about "The Stroke" by Billy Squeier (sp?). That was pretty bad.
Also "Centerfold" by J. Geils. Very dissapointing by a band that had some good music earlier.

yes Red Rider *shudders*

and i beg to differ with you my friend about the stroke the only billy squire song i happened to like lol

anything by Madonna
anything by Whacko Jaco Micheal Jackson except "Billie Jean"
anything by New Kids on the Block, though I'm ashamed to admit I was into them for a short time
anything by Debbie Gibson except "Lost In Your Eyes"
anything by Patti Labelle
anything by Dionne Warwicke
anything by Wilson Phillips

It's funny but I liked a lot of the stuff that was mentioned here. On the other hand, I despise the Talking Heads, but someone in this thread is a fan. Hey, that's why they make Chevys and Fords.

These musicians were already mentioned but I'd like to help drive the point home. I hate everything that "Huey Lewis and The News" ever did. The same can be said for Bruce Springsteen. I know, I probably just spelled his name wrong. "Chicago" and "Yes" were also terrible.

And now for the piss from a distance......anyone remember the bands "Talk Talk" or "The The?" P-U!

On another note, I didn't realize so many people hated Billy Squire. I used to play his "In The Dark" LP/Cassette/whatever over and over.

Hip hop isn't that great either. The 80's are way better than the stuff that is out now. I am not impressed with any of it. Talk about people with no originality.

Ok, ill start with a small list:

Irene Cara - What A Feeling (Giorgio Moroder at his worst!)
Madonna - True Blue
Madonna - Like A Virgin
Survivor - The Search Is Over
Belinda Carslile (spelling?) - Heaven Is A Place On Earth
New Kids On The Block - all cuts
Tiffany - all cuts
Debbie Gibson - all cuts except the 12" mix of "only in my dreams"
Bon Jovi - Living On A Prayer
Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name

...I could go on but lol...just as much crap as there was great stuff in the 80s

"The Final Countdown", by Europe, 1986. Since I work in sports television, I think I've heard it too many times for one lifetime!
