A breakdown of politics

Why do we use the word politics to describe our government officials doing and goings on? Here is a break down. Poli- meaning many. and Tics- Blood Sucking Creatures. So the word simply means, Many Blood Sucking Creatures. (OK. So I know the word tics as it pertains to this is not the correct spelling. Do not be critical just laugh. It's funny Dammit) LOL
