Ah, but Odd, it's been my experience...

...that if you love the person you're talking to on the other end, it doesn't matter WHAT they're talking about, or if they get distracted by someone or something on their end... you just treasure every second of time you are blessed with together. You even enjoy the babbling (and it's even possible that you may do a little of your own!)

You may also consider sharpening your conversational skills...

...if she's talking to her cat(s) instead of the person she's on the phone with, then mayyyyyyyyybe she's bored? 🙄 Just a thought. 😛

Personally, I've never had this problem (but wouldn't admit it now if I did! Hee!)

I've had people on the phone talk to their kids, their cats, their dogs, having the t.v. on as we talk and describing what's going on like I have no access to this mysterious magic box. I've had comic books read to me. And it's not uncommon that they called me in the first place! Imagine! The very idea! Last night a woman was tellimg me about how her father died, and the stepmother didn't invite her to ride in the family limo to the cemetary and her sister had mother's ashes thrown away and then... oh, what is Miss Kitty? You hungwee? Hmmmm? Hmmm????

I never DID hear the answer.

No plant talkers - yet. I've been reading Dracula and have a copy of it next to my bed. I might do an Andy Kaufman next time and fight fire with fire; open up the book and just start reading out loud. And then be in an REM song. That will show them.
