has anyone ever had any bad experiences with someone with epilepsy? My last session was in July and my longest was in May(1 and 1/2 hours) but, due to my condition, I'm unsure as to how far to push the envelope. Any suggestions?

oh good topic, Crydun

I'm very interested in tickling as a healing therapy, and it seems to me that you must be very knowledgeable about the effects, and also be the best judge of how far you can take it.

I have a friend with Petit Mal as opposed to Grand Mal Epilepsy, and when she has an episode I simply stay close & watchful to make sure she's safe. When it's over it's fascinating to talk about what we each noticed.

1. Do doctors advise taking precautions against stressors that might trigger an episode?

2. If they do advise this, is it only because episodes interrupt "normal" life, or does it affect your condition in some way?
I'm wondering what physical & mental effects an epileptic episode has on a person. Might it be a cathartic healing experience?

I'd like to add that I admire your openness in all your posts, Crydun. Your manner encourages honest conversation - well done!

I never got to discuss this with ya, Crydun, but the scenario did cross my mind involving you...and I did wonder 🙂

Well, I would suggest during your sessions that you set a specific time limit, and judge how you're feeling after it. If you're feelig ok afterwards, then add a little more time until you've found your breaking point and go from there. Really, only you know your limitations, just make sure the ler knows too to prevent injury😀

Knox said it best. Gradually increase the tickling time wise and its' intensity. Discuss after each mini session how you feel.
Plus, IF the tickler knows you and you should have an "episode" while being tickled, I am sure the tickler will know the difference and change in your demeanor and will act accordingly.

Ps. Besides, depending on how violent your "episodes" are, you may be safer all tied down!😉 😀 😛

Answer to question 1) yes, however I've noticed that, for me, tickling is a destresser. Bunny, bear and I had several tickling sessions throughout the spring. That stopped abruptly in July. I've noticed that since they stopped, the seizures are coming back.

2) It is indeed cathartic for me. I am a "Bottler" when it comes to feelings and emotions. tickling gives me an avenue to release that pent-up stress that would otherwise stay bottled.

aww thank you dear. I truly believe that, especially in an on-line community, honesty is the best policy. Also, I try to let my faith shine wherever I go, tickling forum or grocery store. Thanks and have a good one, button!

I think you and I are on the same page here, NT. My last session was an hour and a half long. No breaks, no safewords, however, bunny and bear were my lers and I was able to breathe on a regular basis. Also, I'm very relaxed around them as they are real-life friends and my body knows their touch. Thanks for your response! it's important to me.😀
