I know that laughing is a automatic response to tickling, but some people if the tickling is intense, start to scream.

My question is: Is this screaming automatic or conscious?
Is it a conscious decision for you to scream?
Or is the screaming uncontrollable like laughter?

I've not had experience in screaming myself during tickling so I don't know what the answer is, although I suspect its a conscious decision.

When it happens to me, which isn't often, it's not completely automatic, but my body is just running out of responses, and it's more of a cry out that happens when all other reactions are exhausted. Does that make sense? Kind of like when youre arguing with someone really stubborn and going back and forth forever until finally you just yell at them because you can't do it anymore. Not automatic, but what else were you supposed to do at that point?

Cool, I was worried that if I was tickled, and I started screaming, someone may over hear and call security, but I suppose, if its not automatic I won't do it as I would be scared of the consequences.

Seems it differs from person to person, just like how tickling affects someone. Screaming, rather than laughing, while being tickled is most likely an involuntary response for some people. While it may not mean the person is hating the experience, it's simply their reaction, just like others who moan, or the scant few that have the silent laughter.

Its more involuntary for me. It just shoots out when the tickling gets too much lol

What the others said. It's like I get startled by how much it tickles 😛 lol

Same for me. I wouldn't say I voluntarily scream. It's more like being at the end of my rope and laughing so hard that my screams just come out automatically without even thinking about it.
