In the reactionary, bigoted house that I grew up in, people like David Dellinger were viewed as shadowy, frightening boogeymen. Today, the real shadowy, frightening boogeymen are actually in charge of our government, and to me, the David Dellingers have become heroes of a sort.
No matter what, you have to stand up for what you believe is correct. You have to do it yourself...when you've done that, you can have a clear conscience. When you do it yourself, you will never have to apologize to anyone for how you feel, or what you believe in. The ones who have the fortitude to do this really don't care what other people think, and laugh at those who throw libels and labels at them. That's part and parcel of what America is.
