A Teen Titans comic... and more!

The More:
I came back from holidays in December and counted how many tickling pics I've ever made and was astonished to find a total of 94. Everything since then has been a boost to get to my 100th tickling picture. But before we get to that, a Top Ten seems to be in order. I hope you'll forgive the reposts. 🙂 Honourable mentions go out to Queen of the Beach, Moderated, Hilary and Avril's Halloween and Neon Genesis: Evangelion.

10 - The Simpsons vs. The Simpsons. I honestly don't understand what the big attraction is the the Simpson sisters. They can't sing. They can't act. They aren't particularly attractive. They're entire career is summarized in the pic by Bart and Lisa. This pic makes the top ten because it had to be done.

9 - Darkness and Light. One of my faves not only because of wordless storytelling, but because I almost tore it in half and burned it part way through after a moral crisis. What can I say? I'm a softie.

8 - Street Fighter 3. One of my earliest ones, I did this after I got hired on for a comic in the weekly student newspaper. The experience helped. 🙂

7 - Raven & Starfire. Outside of the disproportionate arms and dialogue, it's everything I love about TT.

6 - Street Fighter. The first one I ever coloured on my computer. Huzzah for experimenting!

5 - Jessie of Team Rocket. The legendary first pic! How far I've come since then is a matter of opinion. 😀 I still can't believe my signature was that big back in tha day.

4 - Meg White. A simple enough concept that turned out better than I ever expected. It also made a few new fans for The White Stripes on the TMF. Cheers MC!

3 - The Angel. A great idea from another request that flowed out so well on paper. Thanks dark tickles!

2 - Deadly Little Miho. Great quote. Great ‘ler. Great ‘lee. All based on a great movie. The likenesses are what really set it off for me though.

1 - Flargbaarg! - When I first started this piece, I thought I was out of my mind. It means so much to me as an artist, a comic artist, a writer, a Teen Titans fan and a number of other things

The new stuff:
I had to give the 100th to another TT comic. The series just had it's finale. The first season hits DVD on the Feb. 7. And it's still one of my favourite shows of all time. May it be one of yours too! The first five pages are below. Enjoy!

Another cute and funny adaptation. Good work. My favorite part is Beast Boy's obliviousness/sleep walking to the whole situation. He's in and out of there and didn't even notice whats going on. 🙂

Congratulations on your 100th, Snail Shell! A nice retrospective of your work! I really favor the trippy, candy-striped motif of the Meg White picture! And the comic is another fine addition! The story proceeds at an easy, breezy pace; the girls (tensions aside) are fun company; the color work provides convincing texture and is frequently quite amazing! The changing hues in the night club set a pleseant gala tone, while the sunrise scene is quite lush and beautiful! Plus, Terra's soulful blue eyes are to die for!

I'm amazed in how close it is to the show. It has that style, then every once in a while, it'll go super-cartoony for a second, like when beast boy walks in. You can almost hear them saying it.

that's the best comic yet! i love the look and feel of it, just like the real show! and the look of the close up of their soles is awesome! and the blurriness in Raven's white eyes is a nice touch.

Great post! We always enjoy your work. A good tickle pic is better than a
moral crisis anyday. I have a suggestion however, your figure drawing is
fine, I especially like Petra, but it's time for you to experiment with different
media. I suggest that you get a copy of Photoshop (if you don't already have
one) an older one like 4.0 or my favorite 5.5 can be snagged from the net.
Then...Do your excellent drawing in pencil and import it into photoshop with
your scanner. You can then use the paint bucket to fill in the color and add
texture.
Just a thought...Keep the great pic coming

Snail, pardon me the pun, "nailed" it again!
your work never seems to stop impressing me.
And to celebrate your 100th pic, Snail shell releases the first "Best-of" compilation.
Featuring the 1st. pic (I've never seen it, any chance of seen all your work posted somewhere?) and a whole host of goodies.
I like that you don't stick to just one subject (I must admit I never liked "teen t." but now thanks to you I'm a regular watcher) I also don't like White Stripes (Meg's kinda cute, but their music's not my favorite - I'm more of a metal guy, blast some Mr. Bungle, Dimmu Borgir or Nevermore while drawing and let's see the results)
I like your multiple ways to work, I mean, you use colors in a marvelous way or black and white, you can do "one - pieces" or sequential art, either with written "dialogue/plot" or a silent action, last, but not least, no one and read right NO ONE out there uses the colors like you do - please, if someone tells you to switch to "Corel draw" or any stupid computer program tell them in the most respectful way to "F&%$K" off - Your work is truly unique and extraordinaire, you colors give your art a warm, "human" quality that no computer could never duplicate.

Fantastic work! 😀 . I can't remember if I asked before, but I'd liek to try and photoshop some of your work if thats ok. You've obviously got a lot of drawing talent, and with a bit of computerised outlining and colouring, I bet these could look really proffesional 😀 .

Darth Godflesh - Apart from searching through the forums, I know there's pads and stuff with all the art by one artist, but I have never been asked about one by the mods or anybody to start one for me. I have no problem starting one, but I have no idea how to put that into motion. Also, I've done one of Jess Alba in her Invisible Woman costume from the Fantastic Four movie. Thanks for all the compliments!

As far as the hand vs. compy colouring goes, I've received many notes telling me to switch solely to a compy and many telling me to stay with coloured pencils and inks. I've started to make some pics using a paint program (Street Fighter, NGE, Joanna Dark) and I'm still using coloured pencils too. They both look good to me and so I'm going to use both mediums in the future. The bottom line is I'm not a pro artist, I'm not looking to be and I'm probably never going to be. I just like to draw.

I can see how such a fleshing out is necessary. It almost always is in a tickle piece, otherwise is lacks presense, conviction, and legitimacy. If all thats happening is just tickling, and everything else is non-existant and abstract, then it doesn't make for good story telling.

As for month-old tofu, I'd be surprized if it didn't. He'd either be dead, very ill, or grooving off it. 😛

I know you've probably had a lot of mail saying to go computer only, and I can totally appreciate why you would want to stay freehand 🙂 . All I meant was I'd be willing to put in some work if you would allow me to to try and computerise it 😀 .
Anyways, I think this piece is just farkin brilliant! In fact, pretty much all of your stuff that I've seen is great 😀 . You're one of my inspirations to try and learn to draw!
