There is something that I wanted to throw out there and kind of get people's thoughts on....now, I'm going to say right up front that I'm not looking to cause trouble or offend anyone, but all I can say is if that anyone is offended, well, um, too bad, I guess. I'm not intentionally trying to be a dick, but just something that's been bugging me...

It involves this belief that seems to be running around here that if you only post here a small number of times, then somehow you're a person with an "agenda", or that you're actually some person fronting for a video company, or that your opinions mean nothing because you've only posted 4 times as opposed to 4,000 times...

I find that a little sad...as far as someone having an "agenda", well, it seems like some people just get incredibly paranoid when a 'new guy' pops in and posts an opinion that differs from everyone else...I mean, don't we all kind of have an 'agenda', even if it's just to mention a thought or opinion? (Don't I have an agenda by even writing this post?)

As for the whole "Hey, you're really someone who works for this particular company or website!" argument, again, this seems like paranoia might play some part of it...and hey, I'll admit, you guys might be right...maybe they are people hiding behind something, but then again, maybe it's someone new posting a thought and everyone who just came out swinging at him/her just scared the guy off.

And this attitude of "Well, you've only posted 5 times, while I've posted 5,000 so my opinions carry more weight then yours" is pretty bad. I admit, it does annoy me when a new guy posts once and starts 'attacking people' or being nasty about something, but I've seen many instances where someone posts something and everyone's like "Hey, he's new, must be a spy for so-and-so..." (I thought the cold war was over.)

Here's a thought...if these new people are anything like me (and I do pity them for that), then maybe the reason they don't post a lot is because THEY DON'T SPEND EVERY WAKING MOMENT ONLINE. And, no, I'm not attacking anyone who spends a lot of time online. But I'm a very busy person, who spends very little time in my apartment lately, and sometimes that means hopping online for about 5 minutes, checking e-mail, maybe stopping by the TMF for two minutes, and I'm out the door. Maybe the rason I have a small number of posts is because I don't have time to post 10 times a day. Or maybe I don't want to ring in on every subject brought up. Or maybe I can't, because I know nothing about the subject being discussed.

I don't know...it's just been bugging me about this lately...I post something here and just because I've been 'absent' for a while, all of a sudden I'm accused of everything from being a fake to planning the JFK assassination. And if it's not posted here, then it's an e-mail sent to me that is totally unnecessary. I mean, really...lighten up. Relax. Chill.

I keep hearing how this place is supposed to be all neighborly and stuff but I don't see it all the time. And to those of you who do your part to keep things civil and warm and fuzzy, I tip my hat to you.

So, I guess that's it. I'd like to hear other comments. Thanks for letting me post.

I gues I should add this disclaimer for all the Oliver Stone fans out there....

*I am NOT associated with any tickle video company, fetish company, or any kind of tickle or foot website. I have seen stuff from just about every company, but have not purchased a video in over six months, so I do not feel I owe anyone anything. I have never posted anything here with the intent of starting a war or firing any personal attacks at anyone, and I do not intend to start now.

Thanks again for the ability to post here.

Well said strokeofgenius2...

I for one agree with you 100%.....No one should be judged by how many or few posts they have, but by the content of them...and I for one dont think that my opinion means any more than someone posting for their first time.....

Stroke, I'm relatively new here and I've posted up a storm so far, but that's only because I'm very enthusiastic and am able to read and type pretty fast. I do spend quite a bit of time online, but certainly not every waking hour. I don't care how many or how few posts my fellow TMFers make, as long as, like you said, they keep the atmosphere civil. The number of posts one makes has nothing to do with anything, as far as I'm concerned. In one of my replies to another thread, I said that some people don't post much because they're busy, others are shy, and still others just don't. This forum is moderated beautifully, and anyone who has an agenda or is simply here to promote a website will be sniffed out, I'm sure. If others think different, that's their problem, just enjoy the TMF and post as much or as little as you want. 🙂

P.S. Ven has the most posts of any non-moderator here, but he's NOT a jerk, is he? 😀

yeah, anyone with that many cool pictures cant be bad.

but, of course, it is kind of annoying when people judge you for the smallest reasons in the world. A lot of people have many good things to say.

I'm kind of glad you started this thread, genius2, but having lurked a long time, I have seen when someone comes on and DOES have an immdediate and very strong point of view about something like a new video or site or something, and it IS kinda weird and suspicous. But the other side is that everyone here must have been new at some time, right?

i agree that we all SHOULD be equal...

and for the most part i think we are around here.
now you mentioned that people get accused of being a shill, or an owner of a video company, are you sure you're not confusing tmf, with amt? that goes on there all the time, but unless my memory is fubar, i don't remember seeing that happening here. can you please point me to a thread where this has happened?
if anyone is harrassing you via e-mail you should report them.

That threw me for a second, too, but then I realized that must be a reference to the Video Reviews section. If you peek through there you'll notice a strange trend... Every time FP releases a new video, someone makes their very first post proclaiming it to be the greatest video ever released. All of their subsequent posts then occur within that same thread, defending themselves from accusations of being FP "shills." Now I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but many of these alleged "shills" seem to have eerily similar writing styles... And anyone who used to hang out in AMT back in the day (if you were a lurker and ya know it, clap your hands! *clap, clap*) knows the whole ruckus that went on with FP. I dunno... Here's a couple of the threads so you can judge for yourself:

I agree with genius in that we SHOULD all be equal and accepting. However, we are also very human and imperfect. I know I've crossed the line a couple of times myself and jumped on people when they post nothing but negativity. Should I keep my big mouth shut when people jump in and start throwing blivets? Probably. But, my German side (or is it my Italian side?) doesn't seem to cooperate when I get riled up.

AFA numbers of posts...everyone has their own life and their own schedules. If someone posts once a month as opposed to once a day or once an hour, that's cool. The only time I get annoyed is when people post only negative comments...no matter how many posts there are.

I say, everyone post as much as you like...or as little as you need to. Just be civil when you do.

Ann

Thanks 🙂

For the record, the problems I was having with people throwing negative crap at me was mostly through personal e-mail and not posted on the board for all to see. I got really annoyed when some complete stranger would e-mail me with comments like "Oh, you obviously work for..." or "Gee, you rarely post and now you're talking smack..." (I think that's such a dumb expression by the way...'talking smack?'...can you make money doing that?)

But I digress...I'm pleased to say that that issue has been dealt with and is over and done with.

Thanks to you all for you comments and feedback. And I agree with those of you who get annoyed with people who rarely post and then seem to have nothing positive to say and then proceeed to 'talk smack'....(nope, still doesn't work for me...🙂 )

I was just affected personally because I had posted after an abscence and disagreed with some people (in a very polite way) and was attacked in a dumb way. But, again, this has been dealt with.

So, thanks again for the thoughts. I agree, keep it civil and everything's cream cheese. 🙂

(Hmmmm...cream cheese? Eh, it's better than 'talking smack').

I have so little time to post that I end up turning up late to threads, like this one...

Between bringing home work on weekends (my boss recently inquired of me, "Are you sure that you actually need time to sleep?" He was kidding - I think), spending time with the wife, and tending to the house, I just don't have that much time to spend on the TMF. In my case, I try to make it "quality time" by posting only when I think I have something to say, or I want to make a joke and lighten the mood, etc. Each of us has his/her own philosophy about this, so mine isn't The Right One, but it works for me.

(Now, if I only had time to write more stories...)
